Opportunity for an experienced commercial technology and data-privacy lawyer to join a global legal consulting panel supporting Australian clients. The role is consultancy-focused, offering flexible, project-based assignments across technology contracts, data protection, cybersecurity and related transactional work.

Typical engagements include technology/IT agreements (SaaS, cloud, licences, development), data-protection and security advice, technology aspects of M&A and fintech/ecommerce matters, and IP-related issues. Assignments vary in length and can be with external clients or embedded within a large firm’s teams.

The panel is best suited to self-directed candidates who want flexible, high-quality work while retaining access to firm-style resources, training and a professional support network.

  • Qualified to practice in Australia with unrestricted rights to work and reside in Australia
  • Minimum 4 years' post-qualification experience, ideally with top-tier law firm, financial institution or in-house secondment experience
  • Strong technical experience in commercial technology contracts, technology transactions and data protection/privacy law
  • Experience advising on cybersecurity, IT procurement/outsourcing, fintech/ecommerce and IP matters
  • Self-starter comfortable working as a consultant or via an independent practice model; adaptable and able to work on multi-jurisdictional projects
  • Excellent communication, client-service focus, commercial judgment and stakeholder management skills
