Apply in confidence →Senior contentious construction lawyer role within a national practice based in Manchester, leading high-value construction and engineering disputes for major public- and private-sector clients. The role combines case leadership on complex contentious matters with responsibility for business development and relationship management.
The team handles a wide range of matters from adjudications and TCC/high court litigation to arbitration and multi-party ADR on large-scale infrastructure, regeneration, PFI/PPP and energy projects. You will work across sectors including residential, commercial, life sciences, energy and transport.
Key responsibilities include leading dispute strategy and case management, conducting high-level negotiations and mediations, preparing pleadings and witness/expert evidence, mentoring junior fee-earners, and helping to win and develop client mandates.
- At least 5 PQE in contentious construction or engineering disputes.
- Proven experience of adjudication, TCC/high court litigation and arbitration; drafting pleadings and witness/expert statements.
- Strong project and document management skills, with experience of bundling and complex case preparation.
- Confident stakeholder manager with commercial judgment and experience leading negotiations and ADR/mediations.
- Experience mentoring and supervising junior lawyers and contributing to business development activities.
