The group is widely recognized as a leader in information litigation, with a fast-growing cyber and data practice. We are seeking a contentious Data Protection/Cyber Associate (2–4 years PQE) to support partners and senior associates on urgent, high-profile, and often sensitive crisis matters involving information disputes.
- 2–4 years PQE with a strong focus on cyber and contentious data protection matters.
- Experience advising on the full lifecycle of cyber incidents, including breach response and crisis management (ransomware attacks, data breaches, DDoS attacks, hacks) and providing related legal and regulatory advice.
- Advising on notification strategy and regulatory engagement, including correspondence with the ICO and associated enforcement.
- Knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, ICO guidance, and relevant EU law, with the ability to coordinate pragmatic data protection advice alongside a data advisory team.
- Experience advising on, defending, and making subject access requests and other regulatory compliance matters.
- Comfortable handling long-tail contentious matters post-breach for claimants and defendants, including information and data litigation, dispute resolution, and legal proceedings.
- Experience with breach preparation, simulations, communications support, and working with trusted technical cyber partners.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to provide pragmatic risk management advice to a diverse client base and confidence in direct client contact.
- A genuine interest in media and information law, with a desire to develop into areas such as defamation, malicious falsehood, misuse of private information, harassment, and blackmail law.
- Strong team player with excellent communication and organisational skills, capable of working both collaboratively and independently.
- Keen on business development, making connections, and presenting to clients or peers.
