Apply in confidence →Growing national energy practice is seeking an associate to join its Energy & Natural Resources team. This role is open to candidates based in Texas (Austin, Dallas, Houston) or to those working via the firm's virtual office; an active Texas bar license and Texas residency are required.
The associate will handle regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory bodies, and will work on matters involving ERCOT, ISOs/RTOs and organized power markets. Experience with regulatory advocacy and power transaction work (including mergers, acquisitions and power sales) is highly desirable.
The team values strong academic credentials, excellent judgment, clear legal writing and oral advocacy, and the ability to manage multiple matters under tight deadlines. The group emphasizes collaboration, client service and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- 4–6 years' post-qualification experience in energy regulatory matters
- Active Texas bar license and Texas residency required
- Experience before the Texas Public Utility Commission and with ERCOT/ISO/RTO issues
- Familiarity with power transactions, mergers/acquisitions or regulatory advocacy preferred
- Strong academic record, interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple projects
