Seeking a partnership-track associate to join a nationally recognized environmental law practice. The role is open to candidates for the Richmond, VA or Washington, DC offices and will involve work across compliance counseling, enforcement defense, permitting, regulatory authorizations, agency rulemaking, and related matters.

The team values collaboration, mentoring and direct client engagement. Successful candidates will work on long-term, precedent-informing matters alongside experienced environmental lawyers and will be expected to contribute to client service, research and written advocacy.

Approximately 4 years of environmental law experience (private practice, trade association, and/or government experience preferred)
Experience with compliance counseling, enforcement defense, litigation, permitting, and/or administrative rulemaking
Strong written and oral communication skills, good judgment, responsiveness and intellectual curiosity
Ability to work collaboratively on team-based matters and to manage client interactions
Virginia bar membership preferred; required within one year of joining
