Apply in confidence →Seeking an experienced environmental attorney to join a nationally recognized environmental practice on a non-partnership senior attorney track. The role is open in the Richmond, VA or Washington, D.C. offices and carries a firm billable expectation of approximately 1,600 hours per year.
The team handles a mix of compliance counseling, enforcement defense, permitting and regulatory authorizations, agency rulemaking, and environmental litigation. The group emphasizes collaboration, mentoring, and long-term client relationships; the role offers direct client contact and opportunities to work on precedent-influencing matters alongside senior practitioners.
- Minimum of ~6 years practicing environmental law, with experience in private practice, government, and/or trade association settings preferred.
- Background in compliance counseling, enforcement defense, permitting, regulatory authorizations, agency rulemaking and/or environmental litigation.
- Strong written and oral communication, good judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to work collaboratively on team-based matters.
- Admission to the District of Columbia bar preferred; if not already admitted, DC bar membership required within one year of hire.
