IP Associate — Intellectual Property, Newark

Mid-level associate role in a national IP practice based in the Newark office, focused on patent prosecution, portfolio development, and client counseling across a range of industries. The team handles chemical- and mechanical-related technologies and works on both domestic and global matters.

The role offers exposure to drafting and prosecuting patent applications, managing patent portfolios, and preparing technical freedom-to-operate and related opinions. Candidates will work directly with clients and collaborate with colleagues across offices on complex IP strategies.

• 2–5 years' focused patent prosecution experience, particularly with chemical and/or mechanical technologies
• Registered to practice before the USPTO; in good standing with the New Jersey bar or able to gain admission promptly
• Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications; portfolio management and freedom-to-operate opinion experience preferred
• Technical background preferred (chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, or equivalent experience); strong writing and analytical skills
