We are seeking a Junior Litigation Associate with 2–4 years of post-call experience to join our growing Calgary office. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated lawyer with an interest in litigation to develop advocacy skills, work on complex and high-profile matters, and build a successful long-term practice within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

In this role, you will work directly with experienced counsel, receive hands-on mentorship, and take on increasing responsibility for your own files as your experience grows.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and contribute to a variety of insurance defence and civil litigation matters
  • Draft pleadings, briefs, applications, opinions, and other litigation materials
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations
  • Assist with and, as experience permits, conduct questionings, mediations, and chambers applications
  • Contribute to the strategic management of complex and high-profile matters
  • Deliver exceptional client service through effective communication and file management
  • Participate in professional development and business development activities

Requirements:

  • 2–4 years of post-call civil litigation experience
  • Experience in insurance defence litigation preferred; candidates with strong civil litigation experience from other practice areas are encouraged to apply
  • Familiarity with the Alberta Rules of Court and litigation procedures
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
  • Sound professional judgment and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and time management abilities
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional client service
