Apply in confidence →We are seeking a Junior Litigation Associate with 2–4 years of post-call experience to join our growing Calgary office. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated lawyer with an interest in litigation to develop advocacy skills, work on complex and high-profile matters, and build a successful long-term practice within a collaborative and supportive team environment.
In this role, you will work directly with experienced counsel, receive hands-on mentorship, and take on increasing responsibility for your own files as your experience grows.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and contribute to a variety of insurance defence and civil litigation matters
- Draft pleadings, briefs, applications, opinions, and other litigation materials
- Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations
- Assist with and, as experience permits, conduct questionings, mediations, and chambers applications
- Contribute to the strategic management of complex and high-profile matters
- Deliver exceptional client service through effective communication and file management
- Participate in professional development and business development activities
Requirements:
- 2–4 years of post-call civil litigation experience
- Experience in insurance defence litigation preferred; candidates with strong civil litigation experience from other practice areas are encouraged to apply
- Familiarity with the Alberta Rules of Court and litigation procedures
- Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
- Sound professional judgment and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and time management abilities
