Established national employment practice is seeking a lateral partner to join its Washington, D.C. office to lead and grow employee benefits work, with a particular focus on ESOP matters. The role involves client-facing work, supervising junior lawyers, and collaborating across the firm’s benefits and broader employment teams.

Ideal candidates will have a proven track record advising on ESOPs and other employee benefit matters and an appetite to develop a portable practice or expand existing client relationships. The position offers senior-level responsibility on high-profile matters and integration with a broad, multi-office benefits platform.

  • Admitted to practice in the relevant U.S. jurisdiction(s) with partner-level experience in employee benefits.
  • Significant experience advising on ESOPs and familiarity with other benefit plan types (ERISA, qualified plans, welfare benefits).
  • Proven record of client origination or the ability to develop a portable practice; experience supervising and mentoring associates.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy, transactional and counseling skills; comfortable working cross-office with national teams.
