Apply in confidence →Seeking a midlevel associate to join a California-focused land use, environmental, and energy practice. The team advises developers, infrastructure and energy clients, and public agencies on land use entitlements, environmental review, and related transactional and permitting matters.
Work includes counseling on California planning and zoning, state housing laws and streamlining strategies, CEQA/NEPA review and defensibility, permitting for utility-scale renewables and transmission, and entitlement defense in state and federal courts.
The role is open across multiple California offices and offers hybrid working, discretionary bonus eligibility, and standard benefits including retirement, medical, dental, and paid leave.
- Minimum 3 years' California land use, environmental, or energy law experience
- Active member in good standing of the California State Bar
- Strong academic credentials and a J.D. from an accredited law school
- Practical experience with CEQA/NEPA, California planning & zoning, and relevant regulatory statutes (e.g., Subdivision Map Act, Porter‑Cologne, CWA, ESA)
- Experience drafting/reviewing development agreements, leases, easements, and handling entitlement litigation preferred
