Partner — Environmental & Compliance, Portland

Seeking a lateral partner to lead and grow an environmental and regulatory compliance practice in the Portland office of a well-regarded national law firm. The role focuses on counseling clients on environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and related administrative matters, with an emphasis on California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) experience preferred.

The successful candidate will manage matters across the full life cycle of environmental issues, advise on regulatory strategy, and work collaboratively with transactional and litigation teams as needed. There is an expectation of business development and practice-building; candidates with a portable practice or demonstrated client origination will be welcomed.

This role offers a leadership position within a team-oriented platform, including mentoring associates and engaging with cross-practice resources to support complex environmental and compliance matters.

• Established environmental/regulatory compliance practice with substantial experience handling permitting, enforcement defense, and regulatory counseling
• CEQA experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated business development skills and ability to originate or bring client relationships
• Proven leadership and team management experience, including mentoring junior lawyers
• Admission to practice in the relevant state bar or ability to obtain admission
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience working with interdisciplinary internal teams
