Patent Agent / Technical Advisor — Intellectual Property (Medtech)

Growing IP practice seeks a technically strong Patent Agent / Technical Advisor to support patent counseling and prosecution for medical-technology and related engineering matters. The role will sit on a busy patent team and involves collaborating with attorneys across prosecution, counseling, and litigation support.

Typical responsibilities include conducting prior-art and freedom-to-operate searches, analyzing technical and patent literature, drafting patent applications and responses to office actions, and providing substantive technical input throughout the prosecution lifecycle. The team values clear written and verbal communication, initiative, and the ability to learn quickly.

• Degree in material, chemical, mechanical, biomedical engineering, or a closely related technical field; advanced degree is a plus.
• Approximately 3–7 years of relevant industry or technical experience supporting patent work.
• Registered U.S. patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam and meet registration requirements.
• Experience with prior-art searches, patentability and FTO analysis, and drafting patent applications and office-action responses.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and technical teams.
