Apply in confidence →Seeking a full-time, fully remote patent attorney to handle patent procurement and prosecution in the software arts through an alternative-track staffing program with a national law firm. The role focuses on preparing and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications for clients across multiple industries.
This is a contract, full-time position managed through the firm's flexible attorney program. The initial term runs through the end of the calendar year, with potential renewals for successful candidates. The role carries an annualized 1,800 billable hour expectation and may require occasional in-person meetings in select metro areas.
- Minimum 2 years' patent preparation and prosecution experience, with substantive work in software-related technologies (machine learning, cloud computing, cryptography, information security, distributed ledger/blockchain, etc.).
- J.D. and a B.S. in electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related technical field.
- Registration to practice before the USPTO.
- Active state bar admission and residency in one of the eligible U.S. states (AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, MD, MN, MT, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, DC, or WV). Admission in CA, NY, WA, or DC preferred.
- Strong time-management, docketing and organizational skills; ability to manage a substantial docket independently while meeting internal and external deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
