Apply in confidence →Leading international law firm seeking a Patent Attorney to join its Intellectual Property & Technology group in Washington, D.C. The role focuses on patent prosecution and technical analysis across computer hardware/software, telecommunications, electrical, electromechanical, and automotive technologies.
Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting, filing, and prosecuting U.S. patent applications, coordinating international filing strategies, and preparing patentability, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions. The team provides broad IP counseling on client matters.

- Juris Doctor (U.S. law degree) and admission to the D.C. Bar expected if not already admitted.
- Undergraduate or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or closely related technical field.
- 2–4 years' experience in patent prosecution; proven experience drafting and prosecuting U.S. patent applications required.
- Experience preparing patentability, non-infringement, or invalidity opinions and providing IP counseling is a plus.
- Strong legal writing, analytical skills, and excellent oral/written communication; ability to work independently and in teams under pressure.
- USPTO examiner, industry, or clerkship experience desirable. Patent agents with suitable experience will be considered.
