A national life-sciences patent prosecution team is hiring an experienced patent attorney to join busy offices in Silicon Valley, Boston, New York or Washington, D.C. The group advises technology and biotech clients on patent prosecution, counseling, and post-grant matters.

The role involves drafting patent applications and persuasive office-action responses, managing client patent portfolios, conducting prior art searches and FTO analyses, supporting litigation and IP-related diligence for financings and corporate transactions, and mentoring junior practitioners. The position requires strong technical writing and communication skills, a broad biotechnology background, and USPTO registration. This is a full-time, hybrid role with a minimum in-office requirement of three days per week.

  • Approximately 3+ years of law firm patent prosecution experience (candidates with fewer years may be considered)
  • Advanced technical degree preferred (Ph.D. or M.S. with research) in Cellular & Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or related field
  • Active registration with the USPTO as a patent practitioner
  • Demonstrated experience with biotechnology/medtech patent prosecution; familiarity with AI and medical/biotech devices a plus
  • Excellent technical, written and verbal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively on dispersed teams
  • Willingness to work on-site at least three days per week in one of the listed offices
