Principal Associate — Planning, Birmingham

Join an established national planning practice as a Principal Associate based in Birmingham. The team advises on major development projects across sectors, providing planning, highways, compulsory purchase and infrastructure consenting advice, and handles appeals and court litigation work.

The role involves running a varied caseload for developers, housebuilders, public-sector clients and landowners, attending inquiries and appeals, and contributing to client-facing thought leadership, training and business development activities. This is a hands-on role offering exposure to high-profile, complex planning and infrastructure matters.

• Qualified solicitor with relevant planning law experience.
• Proven ability to manage a busy caseload to tight deadlines and to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Clear, commercial drafting and advisory skills; confident negotiating and delivering practical solutions for clients.
• Experience of or strong interest in drafting and advising on planning agreements, infrastructure agreements, planning applications, appeals, Development Consent Orders and compulsory purchase matters.
• Comfortable attending inquiries, hearings and judicial review proceedings and engaging with public-sector stakeholders.
