Real Estate Associate

Our Real Estate Practice provides market-leading advice on transactions and disputes with real estate at the core. We assist developers, owners, private and institutional investors, corporates, lenders, and underwriters around the world in understanding industry trends and their impact on business. Our expertise extends to advising borrowers, lenders, and servicers across all types of domestic and international real estate financings.

We are looking for a junior-to-mid-level real estate associate to join our New York and Chicago offices. You will represent domestic and international investors, owners, developers, operators, lenders, and institutions in transactions covering all classes of real estate, and will draft and negotiate key documentation, including purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, leases, development agreements, and real estate finance documents. You will also conduct due diligence, advise on acquisition, disposition, leasing, joint venture, development, and financing matters, and ensure clients’ interests are protected at all times.

This role offers the chance to work on a high volume of varied matters and to support M&A, private equity, fund formation, and debt finance practices on real estate-related issues.

We are seeking a bright, adaptable, and collaborative team player with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams under tight deadlines. You should be organized, proactive, and able to develop creative solutions for clients.

• Representing investors, owners, developers, operators, lenders, and institutions in real estate transactions.
• Drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, leases, development agreements, and finance documents.
• Advising on acquisition, disposition, leasing, joint venture, development, and financing matters.
• Conducting and coordinating due diligence, including lease review, title and survey review, and drafting reports.
• Supporting M&A, private equity, fund formation, and debt finance practice groups on real estate matters.
• Conducting legal research.

Applicants should possess the following:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree (LLM or foreign equivalent) from an accredited law school.
• Minimum of 3 years of general real estate experience in a large firm setting.
• Experience representing borrowers and lenders in financing transactions across various asset classes, including commercial, industrial, mixed-use, multi-family residential, data centers, and hospitality.
• Experience conducting due diligence, including lease review, title and survey review, and drafting due diligence reports.
• Outstanding communication, drafting, and time-management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects under pressure.
• Strong professional presence, client service focus, and team player.
• Proactive, resourceful, and self-starting.
• Fluency in English.
• Admitted to the bar in the city where you are applying.
