Our Real Estate Practice advises developers, owners, investors, corporates, lenders, and underwriters on transactions and disputes where real estate is core. We act across all asset classes, including commercial, industrial, mixed-use, multi-family residential, data centers, and hospitality, with expertise in real estate financings and cross-border matters.

We are seeking a junior to mid-level associate to join our New York and Chicago offices. You will work on a high volume of matters across the full spectrum of real estate—from acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and joint ventures to development and financing—and will support other practice groups on real estate aspects of M&A, private equity, fund formation, and debt finance. The role demands strong technical skills, excellent drafting and communication, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Representing investors, owners, developers, operators, lenders, and institutions on transactions across all classes of real estate.
  • Drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, leases, development agreements, and finance documents, plus ancillary documents.
  • Advising on acquisition, disposition, leasing, joint venture, development, and financing matters.
  • Conducting due diligence, including lease review, title and survey review, and drafting due diligence reports.
  • Supporting other practice groups on real estate matters.
  • Conducting legal research and protecting client interests.

The role reports to a partner.

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLM/foreign equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 3 years of general real estate experience in a large firm setting.
  • Experience representing borrowers and lenders in financing transactions across asset classes (commercial, industrial, mixed-use, multi-family residential, data centers, hospitality, etc.).
  • Experience conducting due diligence, including lease review, title and survey review, and drafting due diligence reports.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time management, organization, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent drafting skills and strong client service focus.
  • Proactive, self-starting, and team-oriented.
  • Admitted to the bar in the jurisdiction of the office to which you apply.
  • Fluency in English.
