Senior Associate, Commercial Litigation

Our Commercial Litigation Practice represents clients in high-stakes business disputes across a wide range of industries, including contract disputes, class actions, business torts, shareholder and partnership disputes, antitrust and intellectual property litigation. We handle all phases of litigation, from pre-litigation counseling and strategic planning through trial and appellate proceedings, using both court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution methods to achieve favorable outcomes.

As a Senior Associate, you will have good judgment, excellent analytical skills, and broad subject matter experience across commercial disputes. Experience in regulatory issues (especially with ACCC, ASIC and AER), private international law, public international law, corporate and other commercial issues will be highly regarded, as will exposure to construction litigation matters. You will be organised, self-motivated, a team player with a strong professional presence and client focus.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Support claims and disputes strategy for clients involved in major projects and commercial matters; oversee counsel and experts to implement strategy.
• Draft motions, trial briefs, examination outlines and other documents for domestic and international matters.
• Contribute to firm strategy by analysing legal issues and participating in strategy discussions with senior lawyers.
• Guide clients through regulatory investigations.
• Coordinate experts and counsel engagements.
• Oversee discovery processes, including reviewing and organising documents and managing evidence collection.
• Coordinate the work of more junior team members.

Skills and experience we are looking for:

• Australian qualified with 7–8 years of commercial litigation experience; exposure and interest in construction is highly regarded.
• Team player with a 'team first' mindset.
• Good understanding of key risks and issues in multi-party construction disputes.
• Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity.
