Apply in confidence →Senior planning lawyer role within a large UK real estate team. The post-holder will advise on both contentious and non‑contentious planning matters across major regeneration, infrastructure and energy projects, acting for landowners, developers and public sector bodies. The team handles the full range of planning work including development management, environmental assessment, planning litigation and public inquiries.
The role is open to candidates able to work in the firm's Scottish offices (Glasgow or Edinburgh). Dual qualification is preferred but strong Scottish‑qualified candidates willing to dual qualify will be considered. The role includes client-facing responsibility, mentoring junior team members and contributing to business development and practice profile.
- Minimum 5 years’ PQE in planning law or equivalent experience.
- Strong technical planning experience: planning applications, EIA, S106/section 75 agreements, CIL and planning policy work.
- Experience of planning litigation, public inquiries and compulsory purchase work.
- Practical experience on infrastructure and energy projects (e.g. solar, BESS, wind) and planning due diligence for real estate transactions.
- Excellent drafting and advisory skills, commercial awareness, and ability to lead teams and mentor junior lawyers.
- Proven ability to contribute to business development, networking and thought leadership.
