Apply in confidence →Top-tier law firm Compensation & Benefits team in New York is seeking a senior attorney with substantial ERISA and qualified retirement plan experience to join the group. The role focuses on advising employers and plan fiduciaries on design, administration and regulatory compliance for tax-qualified retirement plans and health & welfare plans.
Day-to-day work includes counseling on benefit plan issues in transactions, drafting plan documents and participant disclosures, performing compliance testing, preparing and responding to IRS and DOL filings and audits, and handling correction matters. Experience with ESOPs and plan asset issues is a plus.
The expected annual pay range for this role is $390,000+. - Minimum 6 years of post-qualification experience advising on ERISA, tax-qualified retirement plans and health & welfare plans
- Demonstrated experience drafting plan documents, disclosures and regulatory filings; handling compliance testing, audits and corrective actions
- Experience counseling on benefit plan issues in M&A and other transactions
- Strong legal writing, oral communication and analytical skills; excellent academic credentials
- Experience with ESOP transactions and ERISA plan-asset rules preferred
