Solicitor / Associate — Insurance (EL/PL) — Birmingham

A Solicitor/Associate role in a busy casualty team handling defendant-side major injury and casualty work, with a focus on Employer Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL). The role will involve managing a varied caseload of EL/PL, casualty, disease, large loss and related matters, with opportunities to work on complex liability and causation issues.

This is a hybrid role requiring attendance in the Birmingham office two days per week (flexibility may be considered). You will draft pleadings and reports, attend court hearings, instruct experts, manage deadlines and liaise with clients and insurers.

The team provides exposure to high-value and interesting files and offers the chance to support and mentor more junior fee-earners while developing technical and client-facing skills.

• Minimum 2+ years' PQE with defendant-side litigation experience in Employer Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL)
• Experience handling major injury and casualty files (own files or as assistant to seniors); claimant experience will be considered
• Exposure to casualty, disease and large loss matters; abuse experience advantageous
• Strong drafting, advocacy and case-management skills; ability to meet court deadlines and client SLAs
• Good communication skills and ability to build client relationships; willingness to support and guide junior team members
• Ability to work in a commercial environment; hybrid working with regular Birmingham office attendance
