Apply in confidence →An established national practice is seeking a Solicitor with solid trade marks experience to join its Melbourne intellectual property team focused on advisory, prosecution and contentious work. The role will involve advising on trade mark clearance and search strategies, managing prosecution before IP Australia and IPONZ, and handling oppositions, non-use actions and related hearings.
Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting and negotiating licence, assignment and coexistence agreements, conducting IP-related due diligence, preparing letters of demand and representing clients in IPA hearings and appeals. The team works on sophisticated brand-protection matters and collaborates closely with specialists across practice groups, using advanced tools to support delivery.
- Practical experience in trade mark prosecution and oppositions before IP Australia and/or IPONZ
- Strong legal research, analytical and written communication skills
- Experience with IP due diligence and drafting commercial IP agreements (licences, assignments, coexistence agreements)
- Client-focused approach with strong relationship-management and team collaboration skills
- Proactive project management, time prioritisation and an interest in business development activities
