Seeking a detail-oriented Trust & Estate Planning attorney to join a well-established firm’s Madison office as Special Counsel in the Estate Planning practice. This is a full-time, non-partner track role supporting the group on estate planning, trust administration, and wealth transfer matters for individuals, families, and charitable organizations.

The role involves drafting complex estate and business succession documents, preparing charitable giving instruments, advising on income, gift, estate and generation‑skipping tax planning, assisting with probate for taxable and nontaxable estates, and preparing federal gift and estate tax returns. Strong client service, collaboration with attorneys and paraprofessionals, and timely matter management are expected.

The firm provides a transparent salary range for this role: $150,000–$180,000 (actual pay will depend on experience and internal equity). Competitive benefits are offered.

  • JD from an ABA‑accredited law school
  • 1–3 years of relevant estate planning, trust administration, and tax experience
  • Working knowledge of estate, trust, fiduciary, gift and estate tax concepts
  • Experience drafting complex estate plans, business succession and charitable giving documents; probate and federal gift/estate tax return experience
  • Strong drafting, written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and client service ability
  • Active admission and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; timely admission to the Wisconsin Bar required as a condition of employment
