Apply in confidence →Our client, a national law firm with offices across the United States, seeks an experienced Education Senior Counsel to join its education practice. The role will focus on advising private, religious, and public educational institutions (particularly K-12) and educational service providers on regulatory compliance, operational challenges, and employment law matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising clients on state and federal education regulatory frameworks, including licensing, accreditation, and operational compliance
- Handling complaints filed with government agencies at the state and federal levels
- Providing guidance on FERPA, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, EPA, ADA, Section 504, IDEA, and ADEA
- Supporting schools expanding across the country with state-specific regulatory and compliance matters
The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of relevant experience, strong academic credentials, superior interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects under pressure. An active bar license in the relevant state is required (or a commitment to obtain one promptly). This is not a partnership-track position.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience advising educational institutions or related entities
- Demonstrated knowledge of education regulatory frameworks and employment law
- Experience with federal and state complaint processes and familiarity with relevant laws (FERPA, Title IX, etc.)
- Excellent judgment, writing, and communication skills
- Active bar license in the state of the office applied to, or commitment to obtain one
