The Role
As a Solicitor in our Disputes team, you will work closely with Managers, Senior Solicitors, Trainees, and Legal Analysts to deliver high-quality support on disputes and data-intensive matters. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Johannesburg, with occasional travel to our offices or clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct document review, due diligence, and other fee-earning work, with target daily chargeable hours.
- Perform quality control and provide constructive feedback to maintain high standards.
- Collaborate with other practice groups in our global network to support client matters.
- Supervise Trainees or Legal Analysts as required, handling complex legal matters under direction from senior colleagues.
- Stay current on relevant areas of law and ensure compliance with financial disciplines, including daily time recording.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential
- Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa (other major common law jurisdictions may be considered).
- Minimum 2 years' experience, with at least 6 months in disputes/litigation; 3+ PQE desirable.
- An innovative mindset, curious about AI and emerging technologies.
Desirable
- Experience in a commercial legal environment, ideally private practice.
- Knowledge of disputes work, such as large-scale document review, with ability to project manage from instruction to completion.
