Join our rapidly expanding Regulatory Department, which advises organisations and individuals on health and safety, criminal, environmental, CQC and other regulatory prosecutions, as well as inquests and professional regulatory sanctions. Within this, the transport regulatory team is growing quickly and serves a prestigious client base of major transport and logistics companies and corporate fleet operators across the UK and Europe.

In this role, you will support the team in developing the practice and managing a heavy caseload of transport regulatory matters. This is an excellent opportunity to build a specialism in a high-demand, high-consequence area of privately funded regulatory law. Given the breadth of our work, you will also have the chance to support colleagues on matters beyond your core caseload.

Key responsibilities:

  • Advising clients on transport regulatory matters, including all areas of the operator licensing regime regulated by the Office of the Traffic Commissioner
  • Preparing cases for hearings, including witness statements, drafting submissions, and overseeing bundle preparation and investigations
  • Representing operators at PACE interviews with DVSA and the police
  • Responding to DVSA investigations and desk-based assessments
  • Conducting legally privileged internal investigations
  • Delivering client training, including mock Public Inquiries and incident response sessions
  • Undertaking compliance reviews and transport regulatory corporate due diligence support
  • Representing operators at Traffic Commissioner hearings, including Preliminary Hearings and Public Inquiries, and conducting your own advocacy
  • Supporting business development, including public speaking and industry events
  • Meeting financial and chargeable targets, and adhering to deadlines, quality measures and KPIs
  • Supporting the wider regulatory team as required

About you:

  • Qualified solicitor or associate with 2–6 years' PQE
  • Excellent attention to detail, drafting and written communication skills
  • Advocacy skills or willingness to develop them
  • Strong organisational, time management and collaborative skills
  • Experience handling complex caseloads under pressure
  • Willingness to travel nationwide occasionally by car
  • Desirable: advocacy experience; comfort advising and presenting to boards; transport regulatory experience or interest; experience with legally privileged investigations and fatal incident work; wider regulatory defence experience; business development aptitude

We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. This is an opportunity to develop your career in a supportive, people-first environment.
