Our non-contentious construction team is seeking an associate (NQ–2 years’ PQE) to join our London office. This is a full-time, junior associate role focused on non-contentious construction law, with involvement across the full spectrum of construction, development and infrastructure work.

You will work on a broad range of matters including regeneration schemes, accommodation sector projects, energy and renewables, healthcare, hotels and infrastructure. The team advises clients on procurement and contracting strategies, drafts and negotiates all types of construction and development documentation, and works with both standard form contracts (JCT, NEC, EPC) and bespoke arrangements, including joint ventures and partnering arrangements.

Beyond transactional work, you will support clients on live projects to mitigate risk, advise on payment and delay issues, and help shape commercial negotiations. There will also be opportunities to develop know-how and get involved in business development.

  • Previous experience within a construction team or housing practice is required, with a focus on non-contentious construction law and standard form construction contracts.
  • Experience with commercial and/or housing development work is preferred.
  • A good working knowledge of JCT, NEC and EPC forms, standard amendments and market norms is ideal, as is a willingness to take on bespoke, complex agreements, large-scale due diligence exercises and typical development arrangements under supervision.
  • A proactive approach to understanding the sector and the team’s work is essential.

Essential criteria:

  • Qualified solicitor with NQ–2 years’ PQE.
  • Previous experience within a construction team or housing practice.
  • Primarily non-contentious construction law experience, including standard form construction contracts.
  • Some experience of commercial and/or housing development work.

Desirable criteria:

  • Good working knowledge of JCT, NEC and EPC forms, their standard amendments and market norms.
  • Willingness to work on bespoke, complex agreements, large scale due diligence and typical development arrangements with appropriate supervision.
  • Interest in know-how and business development.
