Consulting Lawyer – Banking & Finance (Australia)

We are seeking experienced banking and finance lawyers to join our flexible legal consulting platform. This is an opportunity to build a self-directed legal career with the backing of a leading global firm, with access to high-quality work, clients, resources, and support.

We are currently looking for lawyers with top-tier technical experience across the following areas:

• Corporate finance
• Derivatives / OTC derivatives regulation
• Structured finance / leveraged finance
• Financial markets compliance implementation
• Funds and investment management
• Project and infrastructure finance
• General banking

Successful applicants will have:

• The right to work and reside in Australia
• Unrestricted qualification to practice in Australia
• A minimum of four years' post-qualification experience, ideally gained in a top-tier law firm, a leading financial institution, or a corporate (directly or as a secondee)
• Strong technical knowledge and experience in a common law jurisdiction (preferred)
• Aself-starter mindset with commitment to building a consulting career and driving high-level results
• Experience leading or working within complex, multi-functional, multi-national project environments
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels
• Client service focus with a strong commercial acumen

As a consultant, you can undertake assignments in-house with our clients, or support our internal practice teams on an ad-hoc or fixed-period basis. Assignments generally range from two to twelve months, usually four days per week. You will receive full support from our dedicated consultant management team, plus access to an extensive suite of professional resources, training, networking opportunities, coaching, and career development programmes.

This role offers genuine flexibility, giving you control over your time and the choice to accept or decline placements, while remaining engaged with high-quality work and a community of like-minded legal professionals.
