Apply in confidence →We are seeking a mid-level associate to join our corporate incentives practice. This role is available in any of our U.S. offices (New York, Reston, San Diego, San Francisco, or Washington, D.C.). The ideal candidate will bring at least six years of experience advising domestic and international companies on U.S. expansion and relocation matters, including the development of corporate headquarters, manufacturing and distribution facilities, data centers, and large office projects, as well as identifying and negotiating discretionary economic development incentives. This is a high-volume, fast-paced practice with a highly integrated team serving global clients. We seek candidates who are process-driven, have immediately transferable skills, strong academic backgrounds, and the ability to mentor more junior associates. Strong analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, sound business judgment, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and independently are required.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting thorough legal research and analysis to support transaction strategy.
- Drafting high-quality legal documents, including contracts and correspondence.
- Assisting with and managing complex transactions from inception to closing, including negotiations and related activities.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships through responsive, professional service.
- Collaborating with colleagues and other professionals to develop effective strategies.
- Participating in high-level meetings, hearings, and negotiations.
- Ensuring compliance with legal standards and staying current on relevant developments.
- Contributing to professional development and firm citizenship, including pro bono and community involvement.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in the state of the office where you will be based.
- Minimum of 6 years of directly relevant experience in corporate incentives and economic development work at a large law firm.
- Experience advising companies on site selection, expansion, and relocation projects, including negotiating discretionary incentives.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment and mentor junior associates.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
