A top-tier law firm is seeking a mid-level to senior associate to join its Emerging Technologies practice within the Entertainment & Media Group in San Francisco. This role focuses on the intersection of technology, data privacy, and digital media, offering significant client contact and the opportunity to grow a collaborative practice.

Responsibilities include:

  • Advising on data privacy and product compliance matters, including compliance with evolving U.S. state and global privacy laws.
  • Drafting and negotiating technology transactions, data processing agreements, and digital advertising contracts.
  • Conducting privacy assessments, data mapping, and data protection impact assessments.
  • Developing and implementing internal data protection programs and privacy policies.
  • Managing data breach responses and incident handling.
  • Advising on cutting-edge issues involving AI, adtech, health data, biometric data, and children’s privacy.
  • Supporting business development efforts and contributing to the growth of the privacy practice.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of substantive experience in privacy, technology transactions, and/or advertising/marketing law.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar (or ability to become promptly admitted).
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple complex matters simultaneously across jurisdictions.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with AI and digital advertising technologies is a plus.

Compensation: $235,000 - $435,000, dependent on experience. Comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability coverage, and more.

  • 3+ years of experience in privacy, technology transactions, or advertising/marketing law.
  • Active California Bar membership or eligibility for prompt admission.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional matters.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with data protection programs, privacy assessments, and incident response.
