Our client, a leading law firm, is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Energy & Infrastructure practice within the Project Finance group. This role focuses on transactional work in the energy sector, ideal for candidates with at least three years of experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting project finance and M&A transactions in the energy industry
  • Handling matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
  • Conducting due diligence for deals
  • Reviewing credit agreements and drafting legal opinions

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant transactional experience
  • Substantial familiarity with FERC regulatory matters
  • Direct experience with renewable energy projects (wind, solar, or battery storage)
  • Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction

Preferred experience includes work on power purchase agreements and interconnection agreements, as well as broader power generation and transmission transactions. The role is based in Washington, DC, though other U.S. offices may be considered.

  • JD from an accredited law school; bar admission in the jurisdiction of the office
  • At least 3 years of experience in project finance and M&A within the energy sector
  • Strong knowledge of FERC regulations and procedures
  • Experience with renewable energy transactions (wind, solar, or storage)
  • Familiarity with credit agreements and legal opinion drafting
  • Preferred: work on power purchase and interconnection agreements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
