Our client, a global AmLaw 50 full-service law firm, seeks a mid-level associate with 5–7 years of experience to join its Governmental Practice Group, focusing on international trade matters. The role may be based in any of the firm's Southern California offices, with preference given to candidates located in or willing to relocate to Orange County, Los Angeles, or Century City.

The International Trade team advises clients on sanctions, export controls, anti-bribery compliance, and foreign investment reviews. The team regularly works with U.S. regulatory agencies, including the Department of Commerce, State Department, Treasury, Customs and Border Protection, the International Trade Commission, and CFIUS.

The ideal candidate will have experience in at least three of the following areas:

  • Export controls (EAR/ITAR)
  • Foreign investment reviews (CFIUS)
  • Economic sanctions and embargoes
  • Customs law
  • International trade agreements
  • Antidumping and countervailing duties (AD/CVD)

Requirements:

  • At least 5–7 years of international trade law experience, preferably with a large law firm or relevant government agency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Must be admitted to and in good standing with the California bar
