Apply in confidence →Seeking a midlevel patent associate to join a national law firm's life sciences team in Boston. The role focuses on patent prosecution and counseling for biotechnology clients working on antibodies, DNA/RNA therapeutics, gene editing, chemical biology and related areas.
The team handles prosecution docket management, drafting and prosecuting U.S. patent applications, and providing strategic counseling to emerging and growth-stage technology companies. The position offers exposure to technically complex life-science inventions and collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams.
- 1–5 years patent prosecution experience in biotechnology/life sciences.
- Advanced degree in a life-science discipline preferred (Ph.D. strongly preferred); relevant backgrounds include molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, cell biology.
- Admission to the U.S. patent bar (USPTO registration) is required; candidates must have passed the exam prior to start or be prepared to sit for and pass it within the first 12 months of employment.
- Strong drafting, client-counseling and project-management skills; ability to work with scientific teams and translate technical subject matter into patent claims.
