Practice Assistant – Construction Litigation

Play a key role in the day-to-day management of a busy legal practice. Take the lead on complex billing, document management and matter coordination. Partner with senior lawyers in a role that values initiative and autonomy.

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Practice Assistant to join our Construction Litigation team. You will support the day-to-day operation of the practice, with a focus on complex billing, document management, client service and matter coordination.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing complex billing processes, including bill preparation, WIP management, reporting and client billing requirements
  • Coordinating the preparation, formatting and management of complex legal documents, reports and correspondence
  • Maintaining document control and ensuring accuracy of amendments and document versions
  • Preparing document bundles and supporting client-facing materials and presentations
  • Developing and maintaining spreadsheets, tracking tools and reports for matter management
  • Opening and closing matters, maintaining records and ensuring data integrity across firm systems
  • Coordinating meetings and travel arrangements
  • Assisting with business development activities, client events and pitch materials
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and delivering high-level client service

About you:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in a legal support role such as Legal Assistant, Practice Assistant, Legal Secretary, or Legal Executive
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple senior stakeholders in a busy legal environment
  • Strong knowledge of legal billing processes; experience with Elite is highly regarded
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to analyse information, exercise sound judgement and solve problems effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with confidence to build strong working relationships
  • Experience supporting matter management, court administration, or document preparation is highly regarded
  • Previous paralegal experience is advantageous but not essential
