Senior Knowledge Lawyer – Financial Services Regulation (12-Month Fixed Term Contract)

We are a global law firm with more than 3,000 lawyers advising clients across major business and financial hubs worldwide. Our UK financial services and regulation practice in London helps clients navigate an evolving and increasingly complex regulatory environment, spanning both contentious and non-contentious work.

This Senior Knowledge Lawyer role sits within the non-contentious side of the practice, working closely with two other knowledge lawyers and reporting to the Global Director of Financial Services Knowledge and financial services partners. The position covers maternity leave and may include line management of a Knowledge Assistant.

The role

• Act as a sounding board for lawyers on legal issues in transactions and matters, including structuring advice, and assist with research.
• Maintain and draft precedents, including complex documents.
• Maintain and draft practice notes, including from scratch in complex areas of law.
• Provide knowledge support to business development initiatives, including key industry sector and client programmes.
• Prepare and deliver legal training to associates, partners, and clients.
• Prepare scripts and participate in webinars, videos, and podcasts.
• Draft high-level material for internal or external publications and support PR and partner initiatives.
• Contribute to the practice's regulatory updates and blog.
• Support partners and senior associates in industry body participation.
• Feed into the team's know-how strategy, promoting use of internal databases and search engines, and devising systems for knowledge collection.
• Manage other team members.

Skills and experience required

• Qualified lawyer with significant legal experience in financial services regulation at a senior level.
• Recognised as an expert in a specialist area.
• Experience drafting complex documents in plain language.
• Experience designing and delivering engaging, successful training programmes.
• Ability to work with a variety of personalities across all levels.
• Experience or interest in knowledge collation, storage, and delivery.
• Project management experience and creative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication and legal research skills.
• Exceptional organisational skills, initiative, and flexibility.
• Strong client focus, team leadership, and ability to report clearly to management.
• Strong IT skills and familiarity with document management software.
• High-level confidentiality, diplomacy, and ability to work under pressure both autonomously and as a team member.
