Apply in confidence →We are seeking a Senior or Managing Associate to join our growing Corporate Tax & Incentives team. The team is one of the largest legal tax practices outside London and is consistently recognised by The Legal 500. It advises a broad range of UK and international clients on complex transactions, tax structuring and strategic tax matters.
With national service lines and a flexible hybrid working approach, this role can be based in Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh or Glasgow. You will provide premium service to clients, ensuring advice and support are of the highest quality, and develop into a sector expert viewed as a business advisor.
Key responsibilities:
- Work closely with Partners on advisory and transactional work while managing your own caseload
- Collaborate with Corporate and Real Estate teams on transactions
- Lead incentives projects with appropriate supervision and manage client relationships
- Actively contribute to business development opportunities
- Supervise and support newly qualified associates and trainees

About you:
- A qualified solicitor (SRA or Law Society registered) with 5+ years' PQE
- Experience advising on a range of UK tax matters, including corporation tax, income tax, VAT and stamp duty land tax
- Ability to give succinct legal and tax advice efficiently while understanding commercial needs
- Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with clients and colleagues at all levels
- Proven track record in business development and maintaining strong client relationships
- Ability to develop deep understanding of clients' businesses and act in their best interests
- A collaborative approach with ambition to develop junior team members
Ideally, you will have experience in both corporate tax and incentives, though we also welcome candidates with skills in just one of these areas.
Our team delivers commercially focused tax advice to a diverse client base, including UK and international corporates, private equity investors, management teams, entrepreneurs, partnerships and joint ventures. We specialise in corporate tax, real estate tax, employment taxes, share schemes and incentives, tax disputes, employee ownership trusts, and M&A tax, working seamlessly across our Corporate, Real Estate, Construction, Banking, Insolvency and Employee Incentives teams. We have particular expertise in sectors such as future energy and renewables, housing, financial services, retail and leisure, and banking and insolvency.
