New York, New York | Full-Time
The Visiting Lawyers Program runs from September through May. To be considered, applications should be submitted by September in the year prior to the year in which the applicant wishes to join. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and should include a resume, a transcript from the applicant's home-country law school and, if applicable, a transcript from any U.S. law school attended. Applications should also include a statement of the candidate's intentions following completion of the program, such as return to a specific home-country firm, further academic work, or practice of law in the United States.
A small number of candidates are invited to interview, either virtually or in person. Travel costs are reimbursed for applicants from U.S. law schools; for overseas applicants, travel expenses are expected to be borne by their current employers. Because the program is intentionally small, many highly qualified candidates must be declined.
- Legal qualification (or current study) in a home-country jurisdiction
- Strong academic record, including transcripts from all relevant law schools
- Clear statement of post-program intentions (e.g., return to home country, further study, or U.S. practice)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Commitment to the full program duration (September to May)
