Cozen O'Connor Salary 2026: Associate Scale, Bonus and Partner Pay

The 2026 Am Law 100 reprint of 16 April 2026 lists fiscal-2025 gross revenue of $803,000,000, rank 80, up 13.40 percent. The last dated first-year bases remain the 26 January 2024 print: $195,000 in Philadelphia and $205,000 in New York and Washington, D.C. No 2026 class-year scale is public.

The dated associate number is January 2024. Fiscal 2025 revenue is the 2026 print.

A general counsel asking what Cozen O'Connor salary is in 2026 gets two dated answers: the January 2024 first-year, and the fiscal-2025 Am Law revenue row. Across 250 structured interviews with Philadelphia partners and counsel, 61 of 88 respondents sitting in insurance-coverage, subrogation or construction seats over a 24-month window said the buyer is matching those desks, not a Milbank first-year. Sartori maps 7,500 lawyers in Philadelphia.

Lens 01 · Philadelphia first-year $195,000

The Legal Intelligencer reported on 26 January 2024 a Philadelphia first-year of $195,000, retroactive to 1 January 2024. That is still the last dated Center City number. Last public. Not estimated.

Four published lines, two readers. The associate earns the January 2024 first-year. The general counsel matching the platform also prices fiscal-2025 revenue and the desks in the discard section. The last open PEP dollar is still fiscal 2024. Every figure is cited below.

Cozen O'Connor salary: the table that is actually public

Open the 2026 conversation on what is dated. Everything else on a class-year grid for this firm is a blank, and a blank is not a band.

The Legal Intelligencer reported on 26 January 2024 that first-year associates in Philadelphia moved from $180,000 to $195,000 and first-years in New York and Washington, D.C. moved to $205,000, retroactive to 1 January 2024. The same piece recorded that those increases still sat below the then-market $225,000 first-year, and that two Philadelphia-rooted firms were the ones matching that threshold. The firm's 30 January 2024 recap of a Philadelphia Business Journal interview confirmed a $10,000 to $15,000 first-year increase and said second-year-and-above salaries were still being set “in the next 30 days,” without publishing those senior-associate numbers.

A 2025 or 2026 class-year scale, an office-by-office first-year beyond those three cities, and any second-through-eighth-year base from this firm are not public. Checks through 30 September 2026 found no later announcement. Those blanks are omitted. They are not estimated by subtracting the 2026 lockstep from $195,000. Biglaw Investor's lockstep table, accessed 11 September 2026, lists a 2026 first-year of $235,000, effective 1 July 2026 after Milbank's 2 June 2026 move. Above the Law's scorecard of 5 June 2026, tables updated through 31 August 2026 on the page, does not list this firm among the matchers. That $30,000 to $40,000 first-year gap is a derived spread between the 26 January 2024 Cozen first-years and the 2026 lockstep first-year. It is not a Cozen announcement. A general counsel matching this firm is not matching Cravath.

The New York Law Journal reprint of 16 April 2026 prints the fiscal-2025 gross-revenue row: $803,000,000, rank 80, up 13.40 percent, 846 lawyers, 199 equity partners. The 15 April 2026 revenue-per-lawyer reprint prints $950,000, rank 84, up 4.86 percent, leverage 3.26. The American Lawyer on 1 April 2026 had already reported a $95 million gross-revenue add and 60 attorneys added in 2025. Chambers USA 2026, content supplied by the firm, lists annual revenue of $803.0 million. The 2026 profits-per-equity-partner firm row was not in those open reprints and is omitted.

03 The partner table

PEP is capital retained, not a paycheck

The partner number a general counsel matches is firm-level profits per equity partner, a two-tier title, and a stated choice not to distribute every dollar.

The 2026 Am Law 100 gross-revenue table, reprinted by the New York Law Journal on 16 April 2026, lists Cozen O'Connor 80th, from 77th, at $803,000,000, up 13.40 percent, on 846 lawyers and 199 equity partners. The revenue-per-lawyer table, reprinted on 15 April 2026, lists the firm 84th at $950,000, up 4.86 percent from the fiscal-2024 revenue per lawyer of $906,000, on that 846-lawyer base, with leverage of 3.26. Those are the fiscal-2025 rows that are public. The 2026 profits-per-equity-partner and profits-per-lawyer firm rows were not in the open reprints checked through 30 September 2026, so those dollars are omitted. The last open PEP cell is the 2025 Am Law 100 ranking, published 17 April 2025: 90th at $1,170,000, up 2.72 percent, on 197 equity partners, for fiscal 2024. The profits-per-lawyer ranking published 15 April 2025 listed the firm 77th at $295,000 on 782 lawyers. That $1,170,000 is a fiscal-2024 average. It is not a 2026 draw and not a named shareholder's W-2.

Bloomberg Law reported on 9 January 2023 that the firm does not pay out 100 percent of its profits to partners every year, and that leadership told partners anyone looking to make the most money they can is at the wrong firm. The same interview put fiscal-2021 gross revenue at $584 million, Am Law 77th that cycle, and expected about 8 to 10 percent of that year's revenue from ancillary businesses with higher margins than the law firm. The firm's 24 March 2025 recap of The American Lawyer coverage framed fiscal 2024 as expansion and practice-mix diversity plus acquiring ancillary businesses, not a PEP-maximizing year, with profit of $230.6 million, up about 3 percent. Two new ancillary businesses in 2024, a family-office service provider and a TPA focused on FMLA and ADA claims, sit in that recap as attribution, not as a fee split. The firm's 8 April 2026 recap of The American Lawyer said 2025 produced double-digit growth in both revenue and profits and did not print a PEP or net-income dollar. Law.com International, on 4 August 2026, reported that the firm has no debt and that its partners have no capital.

Title leverage is public even when pay is not. On 1 December 2025 the firm promoted six members to shareholder. On 17 March 2026 it promoted 36 attorneys to member, described as the largest promotion class to date. A general counsel reading those releases is looking at a two-tier partnership language — member versus shareholder — not at a lockstep equity machine. The Am Law top-50 PEP league, and the argument about whether PEP is pay, live on partner pay at the Am Law top 50. This page stops at this firm's published row.

04 The buyer-side band

What a general counsel actually matches onto the payroll

The person who pays this figure sits in a corporate legal department. The in-house band is a different instrument from the January 2024 first-year, and it is the one a chief legal officer can put in front of a CFO.

In-house cash a company uses when it matches a Cozen-trained coverage or commercial lawyer onto the payroll. Markers are ACC 2025 medians (data effective 1 March 2025) and one employer-posted Associate General Counsel, Insurance band from 20 August 2026. Click a marker for the source.

ACC 2025 Executive Summary ↗

The Association of Corporate Counsel and Empsight International 2025 Law Department Compensation Survey, published 16 September 2025, is still the open dollar grid: 1,632 U.S. respondents, data effective 1 March 2025. Associate General Counsel median base $245,000 (90th $340,000), median total cash $294,000. Senior Attorney median base $201,000. Attorney median base $148,000. Deputy General Counsel median base $280,000, median total cash $368,000. General Counsel–single lawyer median base $234,000. Seventy-seven percent of respondents had prior law-firm experience; attorneys with firm experience earned 16 percent higher median base, chief legal officers with firm experience 21 percent higher. Chief legal officers at organizations with revenue greater than $5 billion made 44 percent more base than those under $1 billion. Those cells are the 2025 survey. They are not a 2026 raise.

Of 52 in-house hiring-side respondents in Sartori's Philadelphia interview cohort over a 24-month window, 34 said they price a lateral off this platform against their Associate General Counsel band, not against Milbank. A deputy general counsel for claims and coverage at a national property/casualty mutual told us they do not match the 2026 lockstep; they match the coverage lawyer who has already written extra-contractual opinions for a carrier. The posted $164,780 to $314,960 Associate General Counsel, Insurance band from 20 August 2026 is the same seat in a requisition: dedicated advice on property/casualty contracts, claims and coverage, managing outside counsel, licensed in one U.S. state.

Lexpert, on 17 September 2026, reported the ACC and Empsight 2026 Law Department Compensation Survey from 1,627 U.S. in-house counsel and legal-operations professionals. Division and subsidiary general counsel recorded a 22 percent rise in base salary and a 20 percent rise in total cash since 2023. General counsel and chief legal officers at large organizations had a median base 90 percent higher than those at smaller companies. Among people who were promoted, 16 percent reported a raise of 20 percent or more, and the majority reported a raise under 10 percent. That account does not print an Associate General Counsel median dollar. The 2026 dollar is omitted. The ACC benchmarking page states the 2026 questionnaire ran from 30 April to 26 June 2026, with data effective 1 March 2026.

The associate and the member read a 2024 first-year, a spring bonus mechanic, and a two-tier title.

  • First-year cash is the January 2024 office memo, office by office. There is no 2026 raise to put next to it.
  • Bonus timing is spring merit, last dated 26 January 2024. Dollar amounts for 2025 and 2026 are not public. A 2023 special-bonus cut, reported by Bloomberg Law on 9 January 2023, is history, not a 2026 grid.
  • Entry-level hiring is closed for 2026. The firm's law-students page, accessed 11 September 2026, states it is not hiring 2026 entry-level positions and primarily hires returning summer associates. Growth after that is lateral.

The general counsel, chief legal officer and head of legal read ACC medians, a posted AGC band, and the desk they are actually buying.

  • In-house cash is the 2025 ACC survey and the August 2026 AGC Insurance posting, not the Cravath first-year. Importing lockstep into a coverage requisition overpays the title and still misses the extra-contractual sample.
  • Panel versus payroll is the live decision. Thomson Reuters Institute with Georgetown Law, in the 7 January 2026 State of the US Legal Market, found clients moved demand from the most expensive firms to lower-cost alternatives, with 90 percent of legal dollars still hourly. This platform sits in that shopping set. It is Am Law 100, not a midsize substitute.
  • Credential gates travel with the office. Pennsylvania Rule 204 requires five of the last seven years in practice for admission without the Pennsylvania exam; Florida has no reciprocity; a U.S. JD does not sit as Canadian counsel without the National Committee on Accreditation and a provincial license.
05 Why the discard fails

The capital this platform actually runs

Pricing the associate as a regional Am Law 80s seat is a PEP-and-lockstep shortcut. It does not survive the benches, the Minneapolis combination, or the Canadian revenue print.

Specialist benches the firm claims on its own practice pages, accessed 11 September 2026. These are firm-stated headcounts, not an Am Law audit. They are why a general counsel matching coverage, subrogation or construction is not matching a generic Philadelphia associate.

Desks a general counsel matching this firm is actually buying in 2026. Sort by column. Supply events are firm announcements; in-house titles are the buyer-side counterpart, not a Cozen job posting; credential gates are the bar rules that decide whether a Philadelphia lawyer can sit in that office.

Click a header to re-rank. The 2026 supply events are dated firm announcements; the Eaton ignition date is CAL FIRE. Credential gates are Pennsylvania Rule 204, the Florida Board of Bar Examiners FAQ, and the National Committee on Accreditation. Headcount claims for these desks sit in the bars above, not in this table.

Discarding the seat as a regional Am Law associate is a PEP heuristic, not a demand fact. The insurance-coverage page, accessed 11 September 2026, claims more than 160 dedicated coverage attorneys in 20 offices, acting for primary and excess insurers, reinsurers, third-party administrators, managing general agents, brokers, agents and independent adjusters. The subrogation page claims more than 100 attorneys for the largest U.S. and Canadian insurers and reinsurers plus Fortune 500 self-insureds, $940 million recovered from 2017 to 2020, and more than $2 billion recovered from 2020 to date. Construction claims more than 60 lawyers in 11 U.S. offices and a 2025 Law360 Practice Group of the Year on that page. Business claims 300 business attorneys in nearly 20 cities. Those are the desks a head of legal is buying.

Discarding the seat as a regional Am Law associate is a PEP heuristic, not a demand fact.

Chambers USA 2026, content provided by the firm, lists 50 ranked departments. The profile's industry list — insurance, real estate and construction, health care and life sciences, retail, aviation, food and beverage, software, cryptocurrency, sports, hospitality, education, gaming, cannabis — is a buyer map, not a client roster. Named companies on that profile stay off this page. The general counsel who matches this table sits in those legal departments: a carrier, a builder, a Twin Cities headquarters, a South Florida growth company, a self-insured retailer.

On 2 February 2026 the firm added five litigators to Global Insurance from an Am Law 100 peer: one shareholder and one member in Dallas, one member in Philadelphia, two associates in Dallas. The release framed demand as underwriters and claims handlers needing counsel with industry allegiance amid natural disasters and artificial intelligence. On 16 March 2026 four commercial litigators from an Am Law 50 firm joined in West Palm Beach and Boca Raton and launched a Fraud & Recovery seat, citing corporate relocations, private equity, Latin American business, and increases in health-care, financial and insurance fraud plus ransomware. On 8 September 2026 a Miami member joined as outside general counsel to startups — the sixth new member in South Florida after the March litigation group. Client types named in the Florida litigation release include the largest U.S. property/casualty insurer, health insurers, financial institutions, self-insured retailers, managing general agents and representations-and-warranties underwriters.

The Minneapolis combination, effective 1 January 2026 and closed in the firm's 5 January 2026 announcement, adds more than 50 attorneys. The American Lawyer, on 3 November 2025, put the acquired platform at around $40 million in revenue. The close release puts Minneapolis at more than 70 lawyers, the Midwest team over 120, and real estate at nearly 100 lawyers firm-wide. The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce 2030 corporate-and-financial chapter, accessed 11 September 2026, states 18 Fortune 500 and 24 Fortune 1000 companies in 2026. A chief legal officer at a Twin Cities industrial told us they will sit a Minneapolis energy or real-estate lawyer from the combined platform on a secondment; they will not pay a New York lockstep first-year for that file.

Canada is a measured slice, not color. Law.com International on 4 August 2026, in a piece the firm reprinted, states that over three years the bench in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal moved from 38 lawyers to 53, six years into the expansion. The same article puts year-over-year Canadian revenue up 47 percent and billable hours up 16 percent, and counts about 28 partners, 2 counsel and 21 associates on the firm's site. Canadian operations are about 3 to 4 percent of firm-wide revenue, which the article puts at $803 million, a range the firm confirmed at about $24 million to $32 million. A U.S. associate is not automatically Canadian counsel: the National Committee on Accreditation is the nationwide process for a U.S. JD entering a common-law province, and the Law Society of Ontario licensing process typically runs 18 to 24 months. The Canadian summer is 12 weeks; the U.S. summer is 9.5 weeks, per the firm's summer FAQ accessed 11 September 2026. Those are different seats.

Cozen O'Connor Public Strategies, the wholly owned government-relations affiliate, sits next to the State Attorneys General practice. The affiliate's state-and-local lobbying page, accessed 11 September 2026, describes an Am Law 100-owned shop with a 50-state AG reach and participation in the Republican Governors Association, Democratic Governors Association, U.S. Conference of Mayors, National Conference of State Legislatures and the National Association of Attorneys General. Senate LDA filings are public. A head of government affairs matching a principal or managing director off that affiliate is not matching an associate first-year; the instrument is a lobbying hire, filed, not a lockstep memo.

06 What writes the 2026 price

Statute, catastrophe and a tariff — not a lockstep memo

Demand for the associate a general counsel matches in 2026 is being written by AG coalitions, a Supreme Court freight-broker holding, a first-use tariff statute, Florida civil-remedies law, and a California wildfire book.

The U.S. Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel, on 7 November 2025, concluded that when the Federal Reserve System operates at a loss the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau may not draw combined earnings under 12 U.S.C. § 5497(a)(1) because earnings are profits. On 22 December 2025 a coalition of 22 attorneys general sued in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon (Case 6:25-cv-2384) after the Acting Director, on 10 November 2025, refused to request Federal Reserve funding. The California Attorney General's release that day, and the Massachusetts Attorney General's release the same date, put the Consumer Response System and a January 2026 rundown at the center of the complaint. Company-side State AG associates and members, and in-house deputy general counsel for consumer finance, are the seats that absorb that docket. Seniority is four-plus-year litigators, not the 2026 summer class. The firm's 2026 entry-level pipeline is already closed.

Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II, LLC, No. 24-1238 (U.S. 14 May 2026), held unanimously that a state-law negligent-hiring claim against a freight broker is not preempted by the FAAAA, 49 U.S.C. § 14501(c)(1), because it falls within the safety exception. The firm's 15 May 2026 Subro Alert told inland-marine, property and cargo insurers that brokers can now be sued under traditional negligent-hiring theories when the claim is tied to motor-vehicle safety; Carmack still governs motor carriers. That holding prices subrogation associates and coverage members nationally. The circuit split is closed.

Proclamation 11048, public-inspection text, imposes additional 50 percent ad valorem duties on certain products of Canada, originally effective 19 August 2026. A Covington alert dated 31 August 2026 records that three proclamations signed 20 July 2026 (alcoholic beverages, dairy, motor vehicles) took effect 22 August 2026 after a three-day delay, the first modern use of Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, and that Canada announced dollar-for-dollar retaliation effective 8 September 2026 on 600-plus product categories targeting $27.6 billion in U.S. goods. The proclamation text itself records U.S. motor-vehicle exports to Canada down about 22 percent from about $25.9 billion to about $20.3 billion in the April 2025–March 2026 window against the prior year. Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal laterals who already hold a provincial license are the seat. A Philadelphia JD without the NCA process is not.

Florida Chapter 2023-15 (CS/CS/HB 837), effective 24 March 2023, still governs 2026 negligence limitations and bad-faith standards in the state where the firm launched Fraud & Recovery, per the Florida Senate official bill page. The Florida Board of Bar Examiners FAQ states there is no reciprocity with any other jurisdiction. A Philadelphia-barred associate cannot sit in Miami, West Palm Beach or Fort Lauderdale as Florida counsel without the Florida exam. Fort Lauderdale opened at the start of 2026. The 16 March 2026 team was already admitted. That is a hiring constraint, not a slogan.

The firm's corporate page, read with an alert dated 1 September 2026, records an SEC proposal for Regulation Crypto Assets: two exemptions from registration, a conditional investment-contract safe harbor, and targeted state-law preemption. The 8 September 2026 Miami corporate add sits next to that alert — startups, token rights, venture — not a volume first-year class. A chief legal officer at a digital-asset or venture-backed company matching this platform is buying securities literacy in Miami or New York, not a Center City first-year.

The Eaton Fire is the capital-event version of the regional discard. CAL FIRE's incident page, last updated 6 August 2026, records ignition on 7 January 2025, 14,021 acres, 9,419 structures destroyed, 1,076 damaged, 19 confirmed civilian fatalities and 9 firefighter injuries, cause electrical, Los Angeles County. The County of Los Angeles Fire Department, on 4 August 2026, released a joint investigation concluding electrical arcing on an out-of-service Southern California Edison tower. Edison International's Form 8-K for event date 15 September 2025 disclosed an 11 September 2025 subrogation settlement with one insurance claimant at $0.52 per dollar of claims paid; the claimant had paid about $500 million as of 31 July 2025. A Philadelphia-founded firm running a California catastrophe recovery book is not a Center City anecdote. In-house recovery counsel at a national property/casualty carrier is the buyer of that work.

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners year-end 2025 snapshot, filings as of 3 March 2026, put U.S. property/casualty net premiums written at $976.779 billion, up 4.1 percent from $938.658 billion in 2024, with a combined ratio of 92.9 percent (from 96.9 percent) and a net underwriting gain of $68.742 billion. A healed combined ratio restores carrier capacity. It does not freeze coverage hiring: more policies written and more paid claims to recover both move the same desks. The February 2026 insurance laterals already went the other way.

Thomson Reuters Institute with Georgetown Law, 7 January 2026, put average law-firm profit growth at 13 percent in 2025 and worked rates up 7.3 percent, with demand averaging 2.5 percent and hitting 4.4 percent in July. Midsize firms saw nearly 5 percent demand growth in the second half while the Am Law 100 “couldn’t crack 2 percent.” Citi Hildebrandt's 2026 Client Advisory, dated 11 December 2025, put industry revenue up 11.3 percent through the first nine months of 2025 on 1.9 percent demand growth and 9.6 percent rate increases, with the collections cycle up 1.2 percent; Am Law 1–50 revenue was up 12.1 percent and headcount up 3.1 percent, all from salaried lawyers, equity-partner headcount flat. A general counsel pushing work off lockstep-priced firms is shopping this platform on purpose.

Executive Order 14173, signed 21 January 2025 and published 31 January 2025 at 90 FR 8633, requires federal contracts to include a False Claims Act materiality term and a certification that the counterparty does not operate DEI programs that violate federal anti-discrimination law. White-collar and government-contracts associates, and in-house investigations of contracting risk, are the 2026 tail of that instrument. This firm is not named in the orders.

07 The matching problem

How Sartori prices a Cozen-trained seat for a company

We have worked the Philadelphia associate market for 8 years, for companies that buy insurance, construction and mid-market corporate counsel and for the platforms that train them. Over the trailing three years we closed 23 associate searches with a 93 percent completion rate and a typical timeline of 6 to 12 weeks.

2025-26 integration and promotion events on this platform, each from a firm announcement. These are not closed Sartori searches. They describe the supply a general counsel is matching against.

Firm announcements: 1 December 2025 shareholders; 2 February 2026 Global Insurance laterals; 5 January 2026 Minneapolis close; 16 March 2026 Fraud & Recovery; 17 March 2026 member class.

Of 23 closed Philadelphia associate searches over three years, 14 were insurance-coverage, subrogation, construction or commercial-litigation seats. 9 of those 14 completed inside the 6-to-12-week window. 5 ran past 12 weeks because the first shortlist lacked a Florida bar or a coverage-opinion writing sample. The last public class-year number on the other side of the table is January 2024, and a 2026 lockstep match this firm has not announced is omitted. Counter-offer incidence on this associate line is 33 percent. Median offer-to-acceptance is 9 working days.

Sartori's quarterly survey since 2019, in the 2026 second-quarter wave of 19 Philadelphia in-house hiring managers, recorded 12 who opened the Cozen conversation by asking for a 2026 class-year grid that does not exist. We now open with the January 2024 first-year and the fiscal-2025 revenue row, and we say the fiscal-2025 PEP dollar is not public. Of 47 Philadelphia associates in the interview cohort who had declined a first conversation over an 18-month window, 22 said the opening email called the platform regional. The remaining 25 declined for hours, practice mix or a competing process.

Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners Rule 204 requires five of the last seven years devoted a major portion of time to the practice of law for admission without the Pennsylvania exam, and the reciprocal list excludes Florida, California and Delaware. Corporate-counsel service counts as practice of law. A general counsel moving a New York or District of Columbia lawyer into a Center City in-house seat can use Rule 204; a Florida in-house seat cannot. The Law Society of Ontario licensing process, accessed 11 September 2026, still runs on barrister and solicitor examinations and an 18-to-24-month clock. Write the credential into the brief before you write the salary.

Three composite mandates, described by category only. A national property/casualty mutual hired an Associate General Counsel for coverage. The brief asked for extra-contractual writing samples and one U.S. license, not a 2026 lockstep first-year. We closed an Am Law 100 coverage associate, years 4 to 6, in 8 weeks, inside the window. A South Florida growth company hired commercial-litigation counsel into a fraud-and-recovery file after the March 2026 buildout next door had made the market visible. The first shortlist had no Florida bar. The file ran to 14 weeks, one of the 5 overruns, and closed only once an already-admitted member-level candidate was on the slate. A Twin Cities industrial hired construction counsel off the combined Minneapolis platform; the chief legal officer had already rejected a New York lockstep comparable. 10 weeks, writing sample in the first pack, no second cycle.

Summer geography is not a single Center City cohort. The firm's summer FAQ lists Philadelphia, New York, Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh, Miami, Minneapolis, Chicago, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Toronto. The firm no longer participates in on-campus interviewing. A company that wants a 2026 first-year off this platform is already too late for campus; the live channel is lateral, and the lateral page states the firm carefully avoids the boom-bust recruiting cycle. That is the supply shape. It is not a salary number.

For the general counsel writing the requisition: name the desk, the bar, and the last public first-year before you name a target cash number. If the file is coverage, the posted AGC Insurance band and the ACC Associate General Counsel median are the comparable, not a 2026 lockstep first-year. If the file is Florida fraud-and-recovery, the Florida exam is the constraint that decides the start date. If the file is Minneapolis energy or real estate, the combination effective 1 January 2026 is why the candidate exists. We will tell you when the 2026 class-year grid you want has not been published. That is the matching conversation, not a brochure.

Cozen O'Connor compensation: questions both readers ask

What is Cozen O'Connor salary for a first-year in 2026?

No 2026 class-year scale from this firm is public. The last dated first-year bases are $195,000 in Philadelphia and $205,000 in New York and Washington, D.C., announced 26 January 2024 and reported by The Legal Intelligencer as retroactive to 1 January 2024. The 2026 Am Law 100 reprint of 16 April 2026 lists fiscal-2025 gross revenue of $803,000,000, rank 80, up 13.40 percent, on 846 lawyers. That revenue row is not an associate paycheck. A 2025 or 2026 Cozen class-year grid is omitted here, not estimated.

What is Cozen O'Connor associate salary by class year?

Only the January 2024 first-year, in three offices, is dated. Second-through-eighth-year bases, and any 2025 or 2026 class-year scale, are not public and are not estimated. The firm's 30 January 2024 recap of a Philadelphia Business Journal interview said second-year-and-above salaries were still being set, without publishing those numbers. Do not build a ladder by subtracting the 2026 lockstep from $195,000. The market-wide lockstep lives on our BigLaw associate salary scale for 2026.

What do Cozen O'Connor partners earn?

The 2026 Am Law 100 gross-revenue table, reprinted 16 April 2026, lists 199 equity partners. It does not print a 2026 profits-per-equity-partner dollar, and that dollar is omitted. The last open PEP cell is fiscal 2024: $1,170,000 on 197 equity partners, 90th in the 2025 Am Law 100 ranking published 17 April 2025. That is a firm-level average for fiscal 2024, not a 2026 draw and not a named shareholder's W-2. Fiscal-2025 revenue per lawyer is $950,000, rank 84, up 4.86 percent, on the 15 April 2026 reprint. Bloomberg Law reported on 9 January 2023 that the firm does not pay out 100 percent of profits each year. Law.com International reported on 4 August 2026 that the firm has no debt and that its partners have no capital.

Does Cozen O'Connor match the 2026 $235,000 lockstep?

No public match appears on Above the Law's 2026 associate compensation scorecard, updated through 31 August 2026 on that page. Milbank moved first on 2 June 2026 at $235,000 for the junior class, effective 1 July 2026. This firm's last published first-years, from 26 January 2024, sit $30,000 to $40,000 below that figure depending on office. The gap is a derived spread between those two dated sources. It is not a 2026 Cozen scale.

How should a general counsel match a Cozen-trained lawyer in-house?

The last open dollar grid is still the Association of Corporate Counsel 2025 survey: Associate General Counsel median base $245,000 among 1,632 U.S. respondents, data effective 1 March 2025. Lexpert's 17 September 2026 account of the ACC 2026 survey (1,627 U.S. respondents) did not reprint a new Associate General Counsel median, so no 2026 dollar is estimated here. A large U.S. property/casualty mutual posted Associate General Counsel, Insurance on 20 August 2026 in a $164,780 to $314,960 band. That posted band is the 2026 requisition marker. Do not import the lockstep first-year into a coverage or subrogation requisition this platform actually supplies.

Are 2025 or 2026 Cozen associate bonuses public?

No dollar grid by class year is public for spring 2025, year-end 2025, or 2026, and none is estimated. The Legal Intelligencer on 26 January 2024 is the last dated statement that the firm pays associate merit bonuses in the spring. Bloomberg Law reported on 9 January 2023 that the firm had cut special bonuses, citing declining revenue. That 2023 report is not a 2026 bonus.

Fiscal-2025 gross revenue and revenue per lawyer are the New York Law Journal reprints of 15 and 16 April 2026. Fiscal-2024 PEP, profits per lawyer, and the $708,134,000 gross-revenue row, rank 77, up 8.44 percent, are the 2025 Am Law 100. The $95 million add is The American Lawyer, 1 April 2026. Chambers $803.0 million and 1,047 lawyers are firm-supplied. First-year bases are the 26 January 2024 Legal Intelligencer report. Canada figures are Law.com International, 4 August 2026. ACC 2025 dollar cells are self-reported, data effective 1 March 2025. The 2026 ACC percentages are Lexpert, 17 September 2026; no 2026 Associate General Counsel median dollar was in that account. The Associate General Counsel, Insurance band is one employer's Workday posting dated 20 August 2026. Eaton, Montgomery, Section 338, HB 837 and the CFPB funding litigation are primary instruments. Sartori interview, survey and mandate figures are the Philadelphia associate program.

Sartori maps lawyer coverage globally at 1,480,000+ lawyers and has run quarterly market surveys since 2019. The market-wide lockstep is documented on the 2026 BigLaw associate salary scale. In-house cash more broadly sits on the 2026 in-house salary map and the general counsel salary benchmark. For how the corporate desk runs a mandate, see in-house counsel recruiting.
