The dated number is a conversion, not a local table.

The 2026 lawyer salary Abu Dhabi a general counsel is matching is not a Dubai band. Sartori maps 2,500 lawyers in this city, and the pay question those files turn on is which home-office scale the seat is priced against, converted at the Central Bank of the UAE rate of AED 3.6725 published 11 September 2026.

Lens 01 · US first year USD 235,000 converts to AED 863,538 a year.

Legal Business reported on 3 June 2026 that Milbank set class of 2025–26 associates at USD 235,000. Multiplied by the Central Bank of the UAE dollar rate of AED 3.6725 on 11 September 2026, that is AED 863,537.50 a year, or AED 71,961 a month. US payroll, dirham arithmetic.

02 The ladder

The 2026 lawyer salary Abu Dhabi ladder, converted.

Open the table first. Every dirham cell is the published US lockstep multiplied by AED 3.6725. None of it is an Abu Dhabi offer letter.

A general counsel who asks “what does this seat pay in Abu Dhabi?” is asking two questions at once, and only one of them has a public answer. The public answer is the home-office scale. Legal Business reported on 3 June 2026 that Milbank moved the US associate lockstep to a USD 235,000 first-year base, the first hike since late 2023. Biglaw Investor’s compiled 2026 table, accessed in September 2026, runs that ladder to USD 455,000 at eighth year, with a year-end bonus column of USD 20,000 to 115,000. The Central Bank of the UAE published a dollar rate of AED 3.6725 on 11 September 2026. The product of those two sourced inputs is the table below.

GBP 150,000 at AED 4.968209, then divided by AED 3.6725, 11 September 2026. The Lawyer, 29 May 2024.

The Lawyer; CBUAE ↗

The London line is a different home office, not a discount on the US one. The Lawyer reported on 29 May 2024 that Clifford Chance raised newly qualified salary by GBP 25,000 to GBP 150,000, backdated to 1 May 2024, after Freshfields and Linklaters. At the Central Bank sterling rate of AED 4.968209 on 11 September 2026, that is AED 745,231 a year, about USD 202,922 at the dollar peg. A Magic Circle ADGM seat and a US-tier ADGM seat are therefore not the same match, even before bonus, housing or title. Even “US scale” is not one number until the general counsel names the firm. Latham’s careers page, labeled US Payroll and accessed in September 2026, still puts the class of 2026 at USD 225,000 — AED 826,312.50 at the same peg — a full lockstep rung below the June 2026 Milbank first-year of USD 235,000. A head of legal who writes “match US” into a requisition has not yet written a number. The difference on a first-year seat is USD 10,000 of base, or about AED 36,725 a year, before bonus.

Across 250 structured interviews with Abu Dhabi partners and counsel, of 72 ADGM-seated associates and counsel over a 24-month window, 42 told Sartori their cash package was priced off a US or London home-office scale rather than an unpublished local table. That is the finding a general counsel can actually use: the negotiation unit is the home-office number, and the dirham line is the peg. A head of legal at a government sovereign investor put it more bluntly, over the same window, as a refusal to issue an offer that “only had dirhams on it.”

03 Who pays

The general counsel matching the figure sits inside the buyer set the panel is built for.

Abu Dhabi lawyer pay is not set by a larger IFC company count. It is set by the sovereign, energy and bank desks that instruct the ADGM panel, and by the in-house legal functions inside those same organizations.

01

National oil-company group

Wholly owned by the Emirate, Corniche headquarters, a 2026–30 CAPEX plan of USD 150 billion and an ADGM LNG marketing platform. The group chief legal officer matches project-finance and upstream packages against the ADGM energy panel.

02

Government sovereign investors

ADIA, Mubadala and ADQ sit in Abu Dhabi and, as Reuters noted when Skadden opened in ADGM on 9 January 2025, are the sovereigns a US-tier office is built to serve. Mubadala reported 2025 AUM of AED 1.4 trillion.

03

ADX-listed bank

First Abu Dhabi Bank, CBUAE-licensed, Al Qurm head office, runs a corporate and investment banking franchise whose legal and governance function buys English-law financing work from the same ADGM panel.

04

ADGM-licensed AI capital

MGX is licensed by ADGM's FSRA. ADGM's 8 September 2026 release stated that more than USD 100 billion of AI-focused investment is held by ADGM-established entities. The legal seat is a funds-and-M&A hybrid, not a funds-counsel how-to.

Start with the capital that generates the work, because that is what a chief legal officer is actually budgeting against. The ADNOC Board, chaired by the UAE President at Habshan on 24 November 2025, approved a five-year CAPEX of USD 150 billion (AED 551 billion) for 2026–2030. ADNOC then announced, on 3 May 2026, AED 200 billion (USD 55 billion) in new project awards for 2026–2028. Those are not legal-headcount figures. They are the tickets that produce project-finance, upstream, midstream and construction mandates the ADGM energy panel bills, and that an in-house energy counsel at the group has to read before they are signed.

The financing tickets are large enough to set a panel on their own. ADNOC, on 18 December 2025, closed structured financing of up to USD 11 billion (AED 40.4 billion) for Hail and Ghasha midstream, with a bank group that included First Abu Dhabi Bank, ADCB, Emirates NBD, Citi and Standard Chartered among more than twenty houses. Prior tickets cited on the same release: an oil-pipeline partnership of USD 4.9 billion, a gas pipeline of USD 10.1 billion, an offshore power BOOT of USD 3.8 billion, an onshore water BOOT of USD 2.2 billion. On 21 July 2026 the group took a USD 6.2 billion (AED 22.6 billion) FID on Umm Shaif Gas Cap, with an ADGM LNG marketing and trading platform attached.

ADNOC financing and FID tickets that generate the projects, finance and construction work an Abu Dhabi legal seat actually sees. Not lawyer pay — the demand that prices the seat.

ADNOC releases, 18 December 2025 and 21 July 2026; Presidential Court readout, 24 November 2025.

Sovereign capital sits beside it. Mubadala, on 9 April 2026, reported 2025 assets under management of AED 1.4 trillion (USD 385 billion), up 17 percent, with capital deployed of AED 143 billion (USD 39 billion). Reuters, covering Skadden’s 9 January 2025 ADGM opening, named ADIA, Mubadala and ADQ as the ADGM-based sovereigns the office is built to serve. A legal function inside any of those houses is matching US-tier and Magic Circle packages to keep funds, energy and M&A counsel from walking twelve minutes across Al Maryah Island.

The listed-markets overlay is the third buyer. ADX Group, on 6 January 2026, put year-end 2025 market capitalization at AED 3.13 trillion, trading value at AED 385 billion, volume at 102 billion shares, and listed-company net profits at about AED 140 billion for the first nine months of 2025. Foreign investors’ buy-and-sell came to AED 299 billion, about 39 percent of trading value; the exchange added 20 new securities in 2025. First Abu Dhabi Bank, the UAE’s largest bank on its own description, sits on that exchange, CBUAE-licensed, with a corporate and investment banking franchise whose legal desk buys English-law financing from the same panel. Abu Dhabi Media Office, restating SCAD on 3 July 2025, put Q1 2025 GDP at AED 291 billion, up 3.4 percent, with non-oil activity at 56.2 percent of the print, finance and insurance value added at AED 19.6 billion (up 9.1 percent), and a 2024 resident population of 4.14 million, from 3.8 million in 2023. Those are demand prints. They are not a salary table. They are why a chief legal officer at a listed bank or a sovereign portfolio company is in the market for English-law counsel at all.

A lawyer salary Dubai comparison does not capture this buyer set. DIFC’s 8,844 active companies at year-end 2025, reported by Dubai Media Office on 5 February 2026, describe a larger IFC. They do not describe ADNOC CAPEX, Mubadala deployment, or an ADGM-seated US firm opened to serve ADIA. The federal table, including a lawyer salary UAE roll-up, belongs to a sibling page. This one stays on the Abu Dhabi match.

04 Three desks

Three labor markets share a city. Only one of them sits on the US lockstep.

The associate who earns a New York or Magic Circle package in Abu Dhabi is almost always on an ADGM or legal-consultant desk. Onshore advocacy is a nationality-gated profession. In-house is the buyer matching both.

English-law panelArabic-language roll

  1. ADGM firm seat English common law, English-language courts, controlled-activity legal-services license. Home-jurisdiction qualification is the hiring gate, not an Emirati practicing certificate.
  2. In-house at the buyer Corniche, Al Qurm or ADGM-entity legal teams at the oil-company group, the sovereigns and the bank. Buys English-law work from the panel; keeps onshore appearances for the advocacy bar.
  3. Onshore advocacy Abu Dhabi Judicial Department courts, Arabic-language, nationality-gated practicing roll. A real market. Not the one this conversion table describes.
Three Abu Dhabi legal desks against the credential that actually gates 2026 hiring, the working language, and who writes the paycheck. Onshore pay is omitted because no primary publisher prints it.
Desk Who sits there Hiring gate Language How pay is set
ADGM international-firm seat US, Magic Circle and UK international offices on Al Maryah Island Home-jurisdiction qualification; five years for ADGM Courts audience; eight years if the hire is managing-partner material for the license English Priced off a US or London home-office scale, converted at the peg
In-house at the buyer National oil-company group, government sovereign investors, ADX-listed bank, ADGM-licensed AI investor UK, US and UAE qualification mix as advertised on panel-firm pages; Arabic is useful, not a practicing-roll substitute English with Arabic on onshore-facing files The match against the ADGM panel, not a published in-house grid
Onshore advocacy Emirati practicing-roll seats that can appear in ADJD courts UAE nationality, law or Sharia-and-law degree, academy training, Ministry exams (Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2022, Art. 13) Arabic Not on the US/London conversion table; a different labor market

The ADGM gate is the one that decides whether a US or England-and-Wales associate can be hired at all. From 28 October 2025, legal services are a controlled activity under ADGM’s Commercial Licensing Regulations 2025: the managing partner or equivalent must have at least eight years of relevant post-qualification experience, a recognized professional qualification and good-standing membership; professional indemnity insurance must be at least USD 1,000,000 per claim; at least one full-time qualified employee must hold an ADGM work permit in an occupied ADGM office. That is why US and Magic Circle offices hire already-qualified laterals into ADGM rather than training onshore newly-qualifieds for court work.

Audience in ADGM Courts is a separate, and cheaper, credential than an Emirati practicing certificate. ADGM Courts FAQs, accessed in September 2026, state that the Courts have not instituted a registration system of lawyers as a prerequisite for a right of audience. Section 219 of the ADGM Courts Regulations gives audience to a person practicing or employed as a lawyer for a continuous period of at least five years immediately prior to appearing; under five years, leave of the Court. “Lawyer” means someone authorized to practice by an approved regulator in any jurisdiction. Proceedings are in English. An England-and-Wales or New York-qualified senior associate can appear without sitting a local bar exam. That is a pay-relevant difference.

Onshore is the other country. Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2022, Article 13, requires nationality, among other conditions, for listing on the Roll of Practicing Lawyers. Article 10 lets a non-national lawyer be licensed only with at least fifteen years of practice, remaining registered in the home state, as a partner of a foreign law firm licensed under Article 70, and only in specialized circuits, excluding criminal, administrative, family and Muslim personal-status proceedings. Article 69 opens the legal-consultation profession — opinion, advice, contract drafting, not appearance for litigants — to persons listed on the Ministry’s consultants register. Article 70 sets the foreign-branch conditions: a parent of outstanding international reputation, fifteen years in the country of origin and branches in at least three countries, a branch manager with at least ten years who is listed on the Roll of Legal Consultants, and a parent-and-branches floor of at least 25 partners. Cabinet Resolution No. 8 of 2025 restates consultant experience gates, including five years as a legal researcher for a non-UAE Category B consultant. ADJD Decision No. 21 of 2024, last updated 8 April 2025, creates a Roll of Foreign Lawyers for the Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court only, again at fifteen years. Al Etihad reported on 27 October 2025 that twelve Emirati lawyers joined practicing before Abu Dhabi Courts after Judicial Academy training. Gulf News, restating the ADJD 2025 annual report on 16 February 2026, counted 292,466 cases filed and 290,670 adjudicated onshore. That volume is real. It is not the US lockstep market. The newly qualified who earns a US or Magic Circle package in this city is almost always on an ADGM or legal-consultant desk, not on the ADJD practicing roll.

05 The panel

The firm tier a general counsel is matching against sits on Al Maryah Island.

US, Magic Circle and UK international offices print ADGM Square addresses. Legal 500 ranks their practices. Rankings are not open seats, and they are the labels a head of legal uses when matching a package.

The 2026 class of international-firm seats is an ADGM license event, not a Corniche walk-up. Office pages put Clifford Chance, White & Case, King & Spalding, Baker McKenzie and Latham in Al Sila Tower; Gibson Dunn in Al Sarab Tower; Paul Hastings in Al Maqam Tower. Skadden, on 9 January 2025, opened its first Middle East office in ADGM, with a practice described as M&A, financing, litigation and arbitration, and white-collar defense. Reuters the same day named ADIA, Mubadala and ADQ as the sovereigns that office is built to serve. ADGM, on 11 December 2025, announced that DLA Piper would open a larger 2,250 square foot office in Al Maryah Tower in 2026, with an Abu Dhabi “Head of Sovereign Wealth” title printed on the release.

Legal 500’s 2026 United Arab Emirates lists are the buyer’s shorthand, not a hiring census. The Corporate and M&A firms page, accessed in September 2026, includes Clifford Chance, Baker McKenzie, Linklaters, White & Case, Akin, Al Tamimi, Ashurst Perkins Coie, Cleary Gottlieb, DLA Piper, King & Spalding, Latham, Skadden, Paul Hastings and others. Banking and finance (corporate finance including Islamic lending) runs a similar US, Magic Circle, UK-international and regional mix. Oil, gas and natural resources prints a tier table: Tier 1 A&O Shearman, Ashurst Perkins Coie, Gibson Dunn, King & Spalding; Tier 2 Clifford Chance, CMS, White & Case. White & Case, on 25 March 2026, reported UAE Tier 1 rankings in banking and finance, capital markets, construction, and commercial corporate and M&A. These tables rank practices. They tell a general counsel which panel firm’s pay they are matching. They do not count open seats.

Practice labels on the office pages themselves are the hiring vocabulary. Gibson Dunn Abu Dhabi: project development and finance, M&A, capital markets, energy and infrastructure. King & Spalding: government entities, energy companies, banks, private equity; Islamic finance, corporate finance, construction, infrastructure, international arbitration, investment funds as a label. Paul Hastings: M&A, large-scale project development, debt and project finance, energy, infrastructure and AI, with “U.K., U.S. and UAE-qualified lawyers” on the page. White & Case: projects, M&A, private equity, construction, clients described as sovereign wealth funds and their portfolio companies. Funds and asset-management as a niche belongs to a sibling page; here it is one hiring label among several on those corporate desks.

ADGM operational-entity stock, the demand print under the panel. Q1 2025 to H1 2026. These are licensed entities, not lawyers.

ADGM announcements, 3 June 2025, 30 March 2026 and 8 September 2026.

The H1 2026 ADGM release, dated 8 September 2026, is the current demand print: active licenses 13,974, operational entities 3,986 (up 34 percent from 2,972 at end-H1 2025), financial-services entities 392, fund and asset managers 190 managing 276 funds, workforce 49,027, and more than USD 100 billion in AI-focused capital held by ADGM-established institutions. ADGM Courts’ caseload by 1 July 2026 had already exceeded the whole of 2025 and was tracking to more than double it, majority in the opt-in jurisdiction. Absolute 2025 Courts case count was not in the release and is omitted. Year-end 2025 had already printed 12,671 active licenses and a workforce of 44,339. The panel is not shrinking.

A general counsel who quotes only dirhams is not yet in the market the candidate is sitting in.
On the matching problem
06 The offer

The search closes when the letter names the comparator.

Sartori has run the Abu Dhabi associate book for five years. The telemetry is small, which is the point: sixteen closed files, one city, one search line.

Of 16 closed Abu Dhabi associate searches over the trailing three years, nine were ADGM international-firm seats and seven were in-house at sovereign, oil-company or bank legal functions. Six of those nine firm seats were priced in USD against the US lockstep. Four of the seven in-house files required a USD or GBP comparator on the offer letter before the candidate would sign. Completion on the book is 93 percent. Typical time-to-fill is 6 to 12 weeks. Median offer-to-acceptance is nine working days. Counter-offer incidence is 35 percent.

Sartori’s quarterly survey, running since 2019, put the comparator question to the in-house slice of that work in the first half of 2026. Of 54 in-house counsel at sovereign, oil-company and bank legal functions inside the 250-interview cohort, over a 12-month window, 31 said they would not sign an offer letter that lacked a USD or GBP home-office comparator. A group chief legal officer at a wholly owned national oil-company group described the method as matching the US first-year number in dollars, then converting, rather than inventing an Abu Dhabi dirham band. That is the opposite of a local salary survey, and it is how the offers that complete are written.

BriefSigned letter

  1. Name the home office US lockstep, London newly qualified, or a named firm’s published US payroll. If the brief says “Abu Dhabi market rate,” the search does not yet have a number.
  2. Convert at the peg, show both USD or GBP on the letter, AED beside it, at a dated Central Bank rate. Housing and schooling sit in a separate schedule. Wages stay tax-free.
  3. Expect the counter-offer On this city and this line, counter-offers are a fact of the book, not a surprise. The letter that names the comparator is the one that survives them.

Three anonymized composites, each inside the envelope. No firm, company or candidate names.

An ADGM US-tier fourth-year. A US energy and finance firm’s ADGM office needed a fourth-year projects and finance associate. The brief named the US lockstep. The offer was USD 320,000, shown as AED 1,175,200 at the then-current peg, plus housing. Time-to-fill: ten weeks. The current employer counter-offered. The candidate accepted on day eight. That file is one of the six firm seats priced in USD.

An in-house energy counsel at the oil-company group. A group legal function needed a mid-level energy counsel who could read project-finance papers without sending every draft to the panel. The first letter quoted dirhams only. The candidate sent it back. The second letter added the USD equivalent against a US-tier ADGM comparator. Signed in nine working days. Time-to-fill: twelve weeks, at the top of the typical band, because of the first letter.

A sovereign-investor M&A seat that almost failed. A government sovereign investor opened a mid-level M&A counsel search with an unpublished AED band and no named comparator. Two shortlists moved. The offer committee would not add a USD line. The file ran to fourteen weeks and completed only after the head of legal, not the committee, put a London newly-qualified equivalent on the letter. It is the kind of file that makes the uncomfortable number in the next section believable.

Your exposure is a comparator, not a survey. Of 16 closed Abu Dhabi associate files, the ones that moved were the ones that named a home-office scale on the first letter.

  • Write the scale into the brief. US lockstep class year, London newly qualified, or a named firm’s published US payroll. “Abu Dhabi market” is not a number.
  • Put USD or GBP on the letter. AED beside it, at a dated Central Bank rate. The candidate is sitting in a tax-free wage market and comparing net, not comparing two dirham headlines.
  • Budget the counter-offer. A sovereign or oil-company in-house seat is defending against an ADGM panel firm twelve minutes away, not against a theoretical Dubai band, and the incumbent will try to keep the lawyer.
  • Do not import a Dubai in-house grid. That table belongs to a sibling page. The buyer set here is the oil-company group, the sovereigns and the bank.
  • Decide the credential before the shortlist. ADGM audience at five years, managing-partner material at eight, onshore advocacy only if you actually need ADJD rights. Attaching a practicing-roll requirement to an English-law seat empties the pool.

Your cash is a home-office scale converted at a peg, paid with no wage tax. Ask for both currencies on the letter, and treat housing as a separate schedule.

  • Name the scale you are on. Class year on a US lockstep, or newly-qualified / PQE band on a London one. A letter that only has dirhams is not yet a number you can compare.
  • Convert at a dated rate. The Central Bank print of 11 September 2026 is AED 3.6725 to the dollar and AED 4.968209 to the pound. Use a date, not a memory of last year’s housing budget.
  • Price the tax, not just the gross. There is currently no personal income tax on wages in the UAE. Net versus a New York or London home office is the actual comparison, and it is why the converted number clears.
  • Do not confuse IFC scale with pay. Dubai has more companies. That does not mean Dubai pays you more, and it is not evidence that Abu Dhabi pays you less.
  • Onshore advocacy is a different career. Nationality, academy, Ministry exams. A US or Magic Circle package in this city is almost never that seat.
07 What it leaves out

The conversion is honest. It is also incomplete.

A page that only converted lockstep would be a calculator. The gaps are the reason to believe the rest.

Five of the 16 closed files needed a second offer round because the first letter quoted dirhams only. One of those five did not complete. That is the uncomfortable number on this desk: we still take briefs that say “Abu Dhabi market rate,” and we still lose weeks teaching the offer committee that the market rate is a New York or London number with a peg attached. The 93 percent completion rate is real. So is the file that did not close.

The onshore advocacy market is a second gap, and it is ours. The Abu Dhabi associate book has not closed an ADJD practicing-roll search in the trailing three years. The Ministry of Justice dashboard counted 1,710 lawyers in 2024. That roster is a labor market we do not run, and this page does not invent a salary band for it. A chief legal officer who needs Arabic-language Commercial Court advocacy is buying a different seat from the one this conversion describes.

Housing, schooling and annual flights sit beside base, not inside it, and no primary publisher gave us a 2026 Abu Dhabi housing-allowance table we could cite. They are omitted rather than guessed. Bonus is the US year-end column of USD 20,000 to 115,000 converted at the same peg if the seat is on the lockstep; Magic Circle bonus practice is not on the NQ announcement and is omitted. Latham’s published US Payroll, still at USD 225,000 for the class of 2026 on the careers page accessed in September 2026, is the reminder that “US scale” is not one number until the general counsel names the firm.

Tax is the one gap that works in the candidate’s favor and the employer’s. PwC’s Worldwide Tax Summaries, last reviewed on 9 September 2026, state there is currently no personal income tax in the United Arab Emirates, and no federal or emirate-level personal income tax; wages of natural persons are not treated as Corporate Tax turnover. Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022, issued 3 October 2022, imposes Corporate Tax at 0 percent on taxable income not exceeding the Cabinet threshold and 9 percent on the excess. Cabinet Decision No. 116 of 2022 sets that threshold at AED 375,000. A converted USD 235,000 wage is not Corporate Tax turnover. Net versus the home office is why the match holds.

A Law Business Research UAE compensation, benefits and billing report for 2024/2025 exists. Lexology hosts a contents preview listing tables for UK-firm and US-firm annual compensation in Dubai and Abu Dhabi combined. The compensation cells themselves were not on the page. They are omitted. Recruiter salary guides exist in this market and are not used. Google Ads Keyword Planner, in a four-country pull on 11 September 2026, recorded 40 monthly searches for the exact string this page targets. The page is built for answer engines and for the two readers who already have the question, not for a high-volume query.

Lawyer pay in Abu Dhabi, 2026: common questions

What is lawyer salary Abu Dhabi in 2026?

Converted at the Central Bank of the UAE’s 11 September 2026 dollar rate of AED 3.6725, the 2026 US lockstep first-year base of USD 235,000 is AED 863,537.50 a year. That is a conversion of published US payroll, not an Abu Dhabi offer letter. Eighth-year lockstep of USD 455,000 converts to AED 1,670,987.50. London newly qualified pay of GBP 150,000 converts, at the same day’s sterling rate of AED 4.968209, to AED 745,231. The general counsel matching an ADGM international-firm seat is matching one of those home-office scales, then paying it tax-free on wages.

How does a lawyer salary Dubai comparison help, and where does it fail?

No primary publisher we opened prints a 2026 Abu Dhabi-versus-Dubai lawyer salary grid; DIFC counted 8,844 active companies at year-end 2025 against ADGM’s 3,495 operational entities. The Abu Dhabi seat is priced off US and London payroll plus a sovereign-and-energy client set, not off a Dubai band. In-house Dubai figures belong to a sibling page.

Do US firms in ADGM pay the New York lockstep to Abu Dhabi associates?

No 2026 firm page publishes an Abu Dhabi lockstep; 42 of 72 ADGM associates over 24 months said cash tracked a US or London scale. Those 72 sit inside Sartori’s 250-interview Abu Dhabi cohort. Treat the converted USD 235,000–455,000 ladder as the architecture a general counsel matches, not as a confirmed local payroll print.

What does an Abu Dhabi general counsel pay to match a US-tier associate?

Matching a fourth-year US lockstep seat means USD 320,000, or AED 1,175,200 at the 11 September 2026 peg, before bonus. A first-year match is USD 235,000 / AED 863,537.50. Sartori’s Abu Dhabi mandate telemetry records that six of nine closed ADGM international-firm associate searches over three years were priced in USD against that lockstep. An offer letter that quotes dirhams only, with no USD or GBP comparator, is the version that comes back.

Is there personal income tax on a lawyer salary UAE package?

PwC’s Worldwide Tax Summaries, last reviewed on 9 September 2026, state there is currently no personal income tax on wages in the United Arab Emirates. There is no federal or emirate-level personal income tax, and wages of natural persons are not treated as Corporate Tax turnover. Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022 imposes Corporate Tax at 0 percent up to the Cabinet threshold and 9 percent above it; Cabinet Decision No. 116 of 2022 sets that threshold at AED 375,000. The tax-free wage is why a converted New York or London number clears more net here than in the home office.

How long does Sartori take to close an Abu Dhabi associate search?

The Abu Dhabi associate desk typically closes in 6 to 12 weeks, with a median of nine working days from offer to acceptance. Of 16 closed searches over the trailing three years, 93 percent completed. Counter-offer incidence on that book is 35 percent. Five of the 16 needed a second offer round because the first letter quoted dirhams only.

Dirham equivalents of USD 235,000–455,000 and GBP 150,000 are arithmetic at the CBUAE rates of 11 September 2026, not observed Abu Dhabi offers. DIFC company and workforce counts are a one-sentence contrast of IFC scale, not a Dubai salary table. The Ministry of Justice 1,710 figure is the 2024 federal practicing and consultant roster. White & Case 100 and Baker McKenzie 40+ are combined UAE platforms. ADGM 49,027 is IFC workforce. Legal 500 ranks practices, not open seats.
