Mid-Level Associate, Fund Formation & M&A

Our client, a leading Canadian law firm with a strong international practice, is seeking a mid-level associate to join its highly regarded Fund Formation & Capital Raising and Mergers & Acquisitions groups in Montreal. The groups advise fund sponsors and institutional investors on the structuring, negotiation, and investment across a variety of fund types, including private equity, private credit, social impact, retail, venture capital, and infrastructure funds, as well as coinvestment transactions. They also regularly represent established private equity firms and institutional investors in domestic and cross-border private M&A and equity transactions across multiple sectors.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in fund formation (institutional or retail) or M&A (ideally with exposure to investment funds). Candidates with strong securities regulation experience who are eager to build expertise in private fund formation will also be considered. The role requires ease collaborating with specialists in a large-firm environment, the ability to manage multiple matters in a dynamic setting, and a positive, team-oriented approach. Membership or willingness to become a member of the Barreau du Québec is required.

• 3–5 years of experience in fund formation or M&A, ideally with exposure to investment funds
• Solid background in securities regulation is an asset
• Experience working collaboratively with specialists in a large firm
• Comfortable advising clients across a broad range of industries
• Positive attitude, team spirit, and proven professional ethics
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Member or willing to become a member of the Barreau du Québec
