Apply in confidence →We are seeking a talented and ambitious Associate to join a multidisciplinary built environment consultancy's real estate team in Birmingham.
The team advises clients across the public and private sectors — including commercial and residential developers, planning professionals, local authorities and scheme promoters — on extracting maximum value from development assets, with specialist expertise in CPOs, easements and wayleaves, infrastructure projects, land referencing and public inquiries. You will lead on landowner consultations and advise on all aspects of Development Consent Orders for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, overseeing and signing off all Lands-related documents and advising on the promotion and implementation of powers. The role also covers the full lifecycle of major projects, working alongside other professional disciplines.
You will assist on all compulsory purchase matters — drafting valuations, preparing and negotiating compensation claims and settlements, and advising both acquiring authorities and affected landowners (including objections and petitions). Involvement spans pre-application consultation through to compensation negotiation, often on large-scale projects with sustained single-project periods.
You will help build relationships with key clients, support new business opportunities, prepare reports and advice notes to quality assurance standards, assist in graduate development and lead the preparation of Property Cost Estimates, with a willingness to help organise business development activities.

- Excellent understanding of the Compensation Code
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work to deadlines and within budgets across a range of projects
- Proactive, disciplined and ambitious, thriving on multi-party negotiation to achieve the best outcome for clients
- Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to foster relationships at all levels
