We are a global law firm seeking an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Strategic Contracts team, part of a broader Commercial practice. The role can be based in Leeds, Manchester, or Birmingham, and involves working within a national team on a wide range of commercial contracts matters.

The work spans high-value, long-term strategic arrangements through to day-to-day business-as-usual matters and standard-form contracts. You will advise private and public sector clients across sectors such as transport, utilities, and industrial engineering, working at local, national, and international levels, including large outsourcings and multinational projects alongside colleagues around the globe.

You will also provide commercial support for transactions handled by corporate and real estate teams, and build close working relationships with colleagues across different teams and offices nationally and internationally. The role includes structured business development activity, such as assisting with client briefings and articles.

2–6 years PQE with a solid foundation in contract law gained in private practice
Detailed knowledge of different types of contract and strong technical and drafting skills
Understanding of key legal, commercial, and operational issues affecting clients and their contracts
Ability to identify specialist support needs for contracts (e.g. TUPE, data protection, competition law)
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication at all levels
Ability to manage competing demands across multiple transactions and work to tight deadlines
Strong research skills and familiarity with precedents and external legal resources
Commercially aware with good networking and client relationship skills
For Senior Associate level: ability to coach, supervise, and mentor junior team members and support business development
