Casualty Commercial Lawyer

Role Overview

Our Casualty team defends public liability (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims across the private and public sectors, acting on direct instructions from insureds and insurers. We operate nationally with dedicated commercial insurance and public sector teams, and have a specialist Casualty Fraud division.

We are seeking a Solicitor with 1–3 years' PQE to manage their own caseload while working closely with senior case handlers. This is an excellent opportunity to build strong client relationships, gain exposure to a high volume of documents, and progress within a supportive, award-winning team.

Key Responsibilities

• Running a caseload of litigated claims, covering both liability and quantum
• Managing disclosure documents
• Assisting senior fee earners with case management, legal research, drafting witness statements and reports, and preparing for court hearings
• Attending client meetings and court hearings
• Instructing counsel and experts
• Responding promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries
• Achieving financial and chargeable targets
• Supporting business development activities

About You

You will have current experience of handling EL/PL casualty claims, with a proactive, flexible mindset and strong attention to detail. You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication, organisational, and drafting skills. Knowledge of CPR procedure and proven technical ability are essential.

• Qualified Solicitor with 1–3 years' PQE
• Current experience of handling EL/PL casualty claims
• Experience running your own casualty caseload
• Excellent drafting, influencing, and communication skills
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
• Ability to work to strict deadlines and as part of a team
• Sound knowledge of CPR procedure
• Proactive, forward-thinking mindset with a willingness to ask questions and engage with the team
