Environmental Associate - Corporate (Energy Transition & Transactional)

An opportunity to join a market-leading environmental practice within a premier corporate department in New York. The group is a large, deeply resourced team of dedicated environmental practitioners supported by a global network of colleagues, consistently recognized at the top tier for environment, environmental transactional work, and climate change.

The practice counsels multinational corporations, project developers, investors, and lenders across the full spectrum of environmental matters, including air and water quality, chemical and product regulation, contaminated properties, climate change, and the energy transition. Team members are actively engaged in legislative, regulatory, and policy developments at regional, national, and global levels, and the group includes practitioners with senior government experience across environmental, interior, and justice agencies.

The associate will support multiple attorneys and is likely to work across three core areas: (1) environmental issues in commercial transactions, (2) contaminated properties and litigation, and (3) energy transition matters including climate change and carbon credit transactions. The role involves working closely with corporate, finance, and tax colleagues to structure transactions in light of environmental risk, as well as supporting permitting, entitlement, and stakeholder engagement work.

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
• Interest in environmental, climate change, and transactional work (including contaminated properties and litigation)
• Strong analytical and drafting skills, with the ability to collaborate across practice groups
• Spanish or French language skills, and prior policy, business, legal, or government experience in the environment, energy, or climate sectors, are a plus (not required)
