Insurance Associate

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a highly regarded, top-ranked insurance team at a relationship-focused law firm in Bristol. The Insurance & Reinsurance Group is busy and growing, seeking an associate at the 4 PQE+ level to join its Bristol office.

The team handles a wide range of complex, high-value coverage and defence matters with a notable international presence. Key areas of work include defendant professional indemnity disputes, financial institutions and D&O claims, complex policy coverage matters acting for insurers and reinsurers, and cyber breach response and coverage work. There is opportunity to specialise in a particular area or maintain breadth, with exposure to emerging classes of claims such as W&I, FinTech, and Tech E&O.

The successful candidate will work with an enviable client base, including many leading insurers and major brokers, and will be expected to provide highly commercial advice, work closely with key clients, and develop their own contacts and network in the market.

The ideal candidate will have 4 PQE+ gained at a City, major regional, or leading international firm, with strong experience handling clients in major insurance undertakings. You will have excellent drafting skills and the ability to translate legal theory into practical, commercial advice. As this is a client-facing role, you will need sound judgement and good interpersonal and project management skills.
