A leading international law firm is seeking a motivated associate with 2–5 years of experience to join its Chicago office, focusing on complex insurance coverage and liability defense litigation. This role involves high-exposure coverage disputes for both international and domestic insurers across a wide range of liability policies, including fidelity, directors and officers, employment, professional, property, excess, and commercial general liability.

The practice handles a diverse mix of matters, such as catastrophic injury, bodily injury, wrongful death, premises liability, bad faith, fraud, UM/UIM, class action, and trucking and transportation litigation. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of approximately 20 matters, actively investigate claims, develop case strategies, draft and respond to discovery, take and defend depositions, argue motions, and prepare cases for mediation and trial. Client reporting and supervision of associates and paralegals are also key responsibilities.

Admission to the Illinois bar
2–5 years of experience in disputes, with a focus on insurance coverage and coverage litigation
Extensive oral argument skills and strong legal research, writing, and communication abilities
Experience with various insurance policy forms and analyzing rights and obligations under such policies
Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple time-sensitive matters simultaneously
Excellent academic credentials
German language skills and/or European experience a plus
