Join a large national intellectual property team as an associate focused on patent prosecution for mechanical and electrical engineering technologies. The role sits in the Minneapolis office and offers hands-on work with consumer electronics hardware and electromechanical systems, including wireless device hardware.

The position involves drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications, managing prosecution strategy and docket deadlines, supporting prior-art and freedom-to-operate analyses, and assisting with due diligence and post-grant matters as needed. The team environment is collaborative and technically focused.

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with strong academics
  • Registered and in good standing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Admission to the state bar where position is based or eligibility for admission
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; electrical engineering drafting experience preferred
  • 2–4 years patent prosecution experience, with drafting and prosecuting experience across mechanical and electrical subject matter
  • Experience with prior-art searching, patentability/clearance analyses, and responding to office actions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to manage a substantial docket
