The role is based in Indianapolis and involves working on consumer electronics hardware and electromechanical technologies within a collaborative, technically strong team.
Typical matters include drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications, conducting prior-art and clearance analyses, responding to USPTO office actions, supporting due diligence and post-grant proceedings, and translating complex technical subject matter into clear patent disclosures.
- JD from an accredited law school with strong academic record
- Registered and in good standing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
- Admission or eligibility to admit in the state where role is based
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (electrical engineering drafting experience preferred)
- 2–4 years of patent prosecution experience, preferably at a law firm or IP boutique
- Experience drafting specifications, claims, and prosecution responses across mechanical and electrical subject matter
- Strong written/verbal communication, docket management, and attention to detail
- Familiarity with wireless device hardware (smartphones, tablets, wearables) and freedom-to-operate/clearance work is a plus
