We are seeking a Managing Associate to join our busy and growing International Arbitration group. You will support Partners in case management and business development, mentor colleagues, and manage client work with minimal supervision. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute and ambitious lawyer with 5-6 years' PQE to develop their practice in a collaborative, high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all client work allocated by Partners and other solicitors within the group, and occasionally across the wider department.
- Run client matters (or parts of larger matters) with minimal assistance from Partners.
- Command the trust and confidence of clients, delivering a first-class service.
- Lead and supervise more junior team members, and mentor their professional development both formally and informally.
- Undertake business development internally and externally, and demonstrate a proven track record of securing repeat work.
- Maintain clear communication with colleagues, clients and external organisations.
- Use knowledge, AI and other technology to develop business opportunities, add value to client relationships, and bring efficiencies to service delivery.
Skills & Experience
- English law qualification with a proven track record of advising on English law matters in a contentious practice.
- Dedicated international arbitration practice from a recognised law firm as an associate is preferable.
- Experience of conducting oral advocacy before an international tribunal is preferable.
- Postgraduate qualification in international arbitration, international law or international dispute resolution is preferable.
- Personable and confident, able to build relationships with partners and key stakeholders.
- Desire to build a practice and utilise contacts for business development.
The Team
Our International Arbitration team acts as counsel and arbitrator in matters before all major arbitral institutions, including ICSID, LCIA, ICC, SCC, SIAC and HKIAC, as well as ad hoc arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Rules. We handle disputes for clients worldwide, with particular expertise in Africa and Asia/South Asia, and represent parties in arbitrations seated in major cities across the globe. Our sector coverage spans energy, mining, construction, finance, telecommunications, shipping, real estate and life sciences. Our lawyers are also experienced in arbitration-related English High Court litigation, including injunctions, investigative and discovery efforts, and enforcement of awards.

- Dedicated international arbitration practice from a recognised law firm as an associate is preferable.
